McNaughtori on Wednesday afternoon, Mr. Gordon McRobert presided and opened the meeting with an Easter , hymn and the scripture. ' Lesson thoughts were on the Joy of Easter, Devotions. closed with prayer. Mrs, Elmer Summers convened the program, and presented a paper on the current Bible study, "The parables of Jesus," This dealt with the "Parable of the Vineyard" and was entitled "Neal pay for equal work", A good discussion followed.Mrs, Glen Jameson assisted the hostess to serve lunch. Mrs. Eric Chavancek president of Unit 3 was hostess for'the April meeting on Wednesday evening. A small alter with a cross and pots of Easter lilies was set in the centre of ,the rootn. Mrs. Chovancek opened the meeting with a reading on Easter and lesson thoughts on Easter. The Regional Rally wasare flounced for April 25th at North Nisouri Church. Program conveners were Mrs. Fred and Mrs. Cliff Cook. Mrs. Fred Cook gave a reading and Mrs: Cliff Cook read the Scripture.* This being April and cancer month, Mrs. Fred Cook tintroduced the guest speakers, Mrs. Al Cocquyt and Mrs. Ftobt. Harloff both members ' of Cancer education committee, Lucan Biddulph Branch of the Cancer Soeiety. These ladies are also members of the mastectomy visiting Committee, ! they will visit patients in hospital or at home with the permission of , their do.. tor. Mrs. Varloff told her own story ofhoW she felt after a doubleMastectomy and with her faith in God, and the help of her family, she felt able to cope and lead a normal life. 'Mrs, Cocquyt, gave a demonstration of the mastectomy kit, which comes in an attractive tote bag, which contains articles to help' in exercising. Unit 4 met at the home of Mrs. Fred Hardie on April 2. Mrs. Cliff Hardie presided and opened the meeting with lesson thoughts on "The Joy of Easter", The roll call was answered with an Easter verse. During the business, the making of quilts was discussed, and the program for the general meeting for which .this unit is respon- sible. Mrs, Terry Johnson and Mrs. Gerald Dann were in charge of program and presented a paper on "The Parables of Jesus," the current Bible study. This was on the parable of "The Vineyard Owner" and was entitled "Equal pay for equal work". A discussion followed. Church news At St. Thomas Anglican Church Rev, F.G. Braby of Stratford conducted the Easter service and was the Celebrant of Holy Com- munion, assisted by Miss Marion Herbert who read the Epistle of the day. Rev. Braby's message was on the Resurrection of Jesus Christ , and the events leading up to that day, saying that if Christ had not risen from the dead, your faith would be in vain. "Stones That Easter'Rolls Away'" was the subject of the Rev; Elwood B. Morden's sermon. Easter, now as at the resurrection of Jesus, unblocks entrances and rolls stones away. Mr. and Mrs. Gary Ballard and Craig, Mississauga and Mr. and Mrs. Keith Stephen, Marie, Valarie and Kevin of Anderson were Easter visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Rea Stephen. The Easter lily at St. Paul's Anglican Church Sunday was placed by the family in loving memory of Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Smith, Miss Ethel Copeland, Mi. Maurice Blackler, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Urquhart, and Miss Heather Urquhart, also Mrs. Wm. Urquhart, St. Marys were Sunday dinner guest of Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Donohoe, Mississauga. where we are and where we, want to be. Some of the stones that Easter rolls away are the stone of weakness, the stone of doubt, the stone of guilt, and the, stone of death. As Easter comes. Again to us, it can find us where we are trapped, and assures us that the way to strength, faith, forgiveness, and life has been unblocked, and the stene at Ahe tomb which was very great, has been rolled, away., Good Friday service A combined Good Friday evening service at the United Church was very well at- tended. The opening hymn was "Were you There?" followed by prayer. A dramatization 'with the following members taking part first - Judas Iscariot (Leroy Bryan) tells his story then Murray Fraser as Peter tells his, followed by Caiaphas, the high priest, story told by Fred Mardlin, then Bob Pincombe as Pilate gave , his account of what happened. Thos,Harlton took the part of the criminal, and finally Paul Wallis as the 20th Century Christian tells his story. Each member upon en- tering the church was given a nail which was to be deposited at the foot of the cross, at the front of the church on leaving. At the conclusion of the service a time of fellowship was en- joyed over coffee, tea and hot cross buns. Easter Sunrise Service An Easter morning sunrise service sponsored by the Youth groups, CGIT, Cubs and Explorers and their leaders was held in the United Church at 7:00 a.m. This service was very well attended, Christine Currah, CGIT leader, opened with the Litany of Repentance with congregation respon- ding. CGIT members in charge of the service were Christine Currah, Christine Jones and Stephanie Penman. "The Old Rugged Cross" was sung by the Cubs and leaders, Larry Ketelaars and Miss ;Cathy_ O'Neill. Scripture '"The Resurrection" read by Amy Waugh. CQIT followed by .an anthem by senior CGIT and their leaders Mrs. ROC Harloff and Mrs, Gordon iVicRobert "Were you there?" )Christine Jones gave views' on Easter, then came a demonstration of what Easter is all about put on by the Explorers and their leader Miss Vickie Bakker. A story of a minor rebellion in Heaven was very well related by Colleen Malcolm. The service concluded with a hymn "Welcome Happy Morning " and prayer. Breakfast was juice, "hot cross buns, homemade jam and honey, also colored hard cooked eggs were served in the basement. This was put on entirely by the groups and their leaders. I think they all deserve a lot of credit for attempting such a project and making a success of it. I was particularly im- pressedwith the way the Cubs ushered the ladies to their seats in the church. Medway Euthre Club The Medway Euchre Club met at the home of Mr.'and Mr. Carman Hodgins of Byron on March 31st.
