After winning the first two games in Leman a week earlier,,the Irish youngsters could manage only a tie in Havelock. It was a 2-2 draw Saturday and Sunday af- Wpm Havelock posted a 4- 1 victory. The fifth game of the beat- of-seven series will be played Saturday afternoon at the Lucan arena at 5 p.m. The sixth game goes in Havelock Sunday afternoon at 2 pan. T-A photo Resume in Zurich tonight Back to Exeter, Friday Mohawks, Buckeyes all tied up The Pieter Smalltowners turned in an excellent per- formance in on Industrial hockey tournament in Lake Placid, New York over the weekend. The Sinalltowners, basically made up from Pfaff Electric of the local ree league bolstered with some players from Arva and Lucan won one game and tied another in three starts in the "C" division. The local club ended in a tie for second place with Glenn Cairns of Ottawa but were eliminated on a goals for and against method. In the first game of the tourney, Thursday, the Smalltowners battled to a 4-4 tie with the Ottawa club. Jim Hearn was the top scorer for the Exeter club with a two goal effort. Adding single scores were Bob Pinter and Ken Needham. In the second contest the locals lost 5-1 to Bradford. The only goal came from the stick of Jim Hearn. The third and final game • saw the Smalltowners blank the Colonials from Valley Forge, Pennsylvania by a 10- 0 score. Larry Haugh was the top scorer with a hat trick performance. Brian Haskett was next with a pair of goals and scoring one goal apiece were Ken Needham, Lloyd Mathers, Rick -Davies, Bob Pinter and Brian Hodgins. Only one goal separated the two clubs in three of the four contests. After the. Mohawks took the opening game in overtime, the Buckeyes came back Wednesday night .to win 3-2 on a goal in the second period of overtime. Friday night, the Mohawks gained the series lead again with a decisive 7-2 decision, but, the Buckeyes bounced back Sunday to win by a 6-5 score to square the series. The fifth game is being played tonight, Wednesday at the Zurich arena with the sixth back at the South Huron Rec Centre Friday night. Both games will start at 8:30 p.m. If a seventh and deciding game is necessary it will go at the Zurich arena Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. Buckeyes rally In Sunday's fourth game, the Zurich club came back • from a 3-1 deficit at the end of the second period to score five straight goals in the first 12 minutes of the final session. The first period was only two minutes old when Jeff Fuller put the Mohawks in front on a three-way effort with Tom Ryan and Randy Gilfillan. "Planning, an overview of recreation planning and its effect on the community" Was presented by John Shipman, "technical researcher of the Ministry of Culture and Recreation, Toronto. At 8.02 Steve Bedour converted passes from John Graham and Pat Bedard for the go-ahead goal and in 30 seconds near the 12 minute mark, Richard Schilbe and Steve Bedour completed the Zurich scoring to give their team a 6-3 lead. Assisting were Glen Zirk, John Graham and Pat Bedard. Two penalties in the last four minutes of play gave the Mohawks a man, power advantage and they were to capitalize with two goals, but, it was not enough. Brian Taylor scored both Exeter power play goals. The first came at 17.22 from Barry Baynharn and Scott Burton and the second 28 seconds later on a pass from Brad Taylor. Each team had scored a power play goal in the first period. Mohawks score erly In Wednesday's 7-2 victory the Mohawks scored early and often. They led 6-0 after the first 40 minutes of play before the Buckeyes could find the scoring range. Jeff Fuller was on the firing end of two successful shots for the Mohawks in the first peiod. Tom Ryan assisted on both and Randy 'Gilfillan and Barry Baynham each picked up a single assist. The other first period ;Exeter markers were fired by Barry Baynham on a pass from goalie John flayter and Brad Taylor on a three-way combination with Brian Taylor and Jim Guenther. In the middle frame, Jeff Fuller capped off a hat trick with his third goal of the night with assists going to Tom Ryan and Brion Penhale and Jim Guenther hit on passes from Scott Burton and Barry Baynham. In the third period, Jeff Fuller notched his fourth goal Of the game on passes from Toni Ryan and Barry Baynham, The two Zurich goals were notched by Randy McKinnon and Gerald Weido. Assists were picked up by Richard Schilbe, John Graham, Pat Bedard and Steve Bedour. Two overtime sessions Wednesday's game was exciting from start to finish. The Buckeyes scored at 14.04 of the first period as captain John Graham counted on passes from Steve Bedour and Rory Desjardine. • The only other goal • in regulation came from the stick of Brad Taylor for the Mohawks at 4.34 of the third period. Assisting were Brian Taylor and Brad Daters. The. game went into overtime and each team Scored once in the extra action.
