Business •
closes up
ByJOYSCHEIFELE
Ailsa Craig residents were
taken aback last week-end
with the unexpected closing
of Ron Edwards Chevrolet
Oldsmobile Limited. Due to
financial reasons cars were
, removed from the lots and
the business closed placing a
number of local persons out
of work.
Monday morning inquiries
were directed to the persons
responsible for the closing.
They reported that it is too
early to make any projec-
tions whether or not the
dealership might. be re-
opened and w,ould not
comment.
Last month the village
suffered another business
loss when J & J Nash
Industries moved their boat
manufacturing from Ailsa
Craig to the town of
Strathroy where expansion
of the business was possible.
This also involved ' com-
munity labour.
