Students whomay be hired include a' botanist, palaeontologist, map-maker, recreation co-ordinator, photographer, an erosion control researcher, a historian for the Clinton conservation area and two students who will conduct a cold water trout stream study on the Nairn, Tricks and Bannockburn creeks. The fines were handed out by Justice Of. the Peace Douglas Wedlake. Assessed $104 for having liquor under the legal age were Brian W. Mercer, Exeter; Conn N. Cottrell, Exeter; David L. Robinson, Exeter; Robert W. Smith, Exeter; Midhael J. Risi, RR 2 Zurich; and John Robert Sykes, RR 3 Mitchell. - The balance were for having liquor available in a motor vehicle or in other than a residence. Those included Peter J. Duran, Stratford; David Grant Smith, RR 2. Ailsa Craig; Jeremiah. John McCann, RR 3 Dashwood; Roger S. O'Brien, Zurich; and Dave Croeze, 'London. The stiffest fine of the day was levied against Daniel Raymond Heywood, RR 3 Exeter who pleaded guilty to a speed of 130 in a 50 km zone. He was fined $263 or 26 days and was given 30 days in which to pay. The speed also resulted in six demerit driving points. Other speeders who were assessed fines were Terry Phillips, Exeter, $115.50 for 125 in an 80 zone; Kevin McConnell, RR 1 Hensall, $64.25 for 115 in an 80 zone; Peter J. Duran, Stratford, $55 for 110 in an 80 zone; Arthur N. McKay, London, $46,75 for 85 in a 60 zone; Dana Michaels, Toronto, $21.75 for 95 in an 80 zone; Ernest Allen Morenz, London, $23 for 96 in an 80 zone. Theodore Lambert .Kremer, Huron Park, was fined $153 or 15 days foi' failing to provide proof of insurance and Daryl Raymond, RR 1 Exeter, was Hire for s The Ausable-Bayfield Conservation Authority will be hiring upwards of 25 students for various projects according to resources manager Bill Mungall. Under the Experience 80 program of the Ontario youth secretariat, 17 students will be hired. Work to be done by thesestudents will include mini-erosion control projects at Rock Glen and the making of trails at the Zurich community park. Last year 25 students were hired under the same program, Mungall stated. assessed $28 or three days for driving without a valid operator's licence. Farquhar, Zurich, was found guilty of careless driving and fined $108 or 11 days. He was involved in a single vehicle accident on November 3 which resulted in damage or $4,500. The accused claimed a car was parked on the roadway with its lights off and as he came upon it, the lights were on and it drove away he had to swerve towards the ditch to avoid a collision.
