Anderson then stole the , puck from the Green's defence and scored on a breakaway. Noyes cut the Blue lead to 6-4 as his long shot found its way through Carter's legs - into the net. Larry Lewis then brought the Greens within one on a powerplay as his wrist shot grazed Carter but found its way into the net. Tom Hardy put the Blues up two again as his shot from the slot went through a maze of players and just crossed the goal line as Garrison attempted to stop it. George Ewer added an empty net goal to secure the victory and "A' title for the Blues. Hagen's Hackers upset the regular season champs, Salon 174, to capture the "B" title. The Shepherd told his lambs what he remembered about-Jesus' birth and life, arid" about His death and Resurrection, assuring the lambs about Jesus' great love for them. Puppeteers Mary Holden, Carrie Lane, and Jennifer and Monica Milton participated very beautifully as the Shepherd's Lambs, while Dorothy told the Shepherd's story in a way that held the children spellbound. Anglican The Palm Sunday Service at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Lucan, was con- ducted by the incumbent pastor Rev. Bruce Pocock. A young Lucan man was killed early Wednesday morning when his pickup truck left the Denfield sideroad, about two Thursday evening the Men's Fellowship and the Women's Auxiliary of Lucan Revival Centre held a combined meeting in the Fellowship Hall of the church: Rev. Brewster showed , slides of his trip to Haiti last year. He showed how the people there worked with him building benches for a block and sheet metal church. The houses are little block and sheet metal shacks for the poor people. The country is very beautiful with mountains and valleys, but very hot. Missionaries are teaching the people how to grow food. Judi Henry told of her trip to Haiti a couple of weeks ago, Judi visited, a deaf school there where it floods in the rainy season. Mrs. June Henry in- troduced Mr. Ron Fillmore from Air Canada, who told how supplies can be shipped to Haiti. As it is a French colony everything is shipped from Montreal. Travellers going to Haiti taking supplies are allowed to take extra suitcases for the missions there as excess baggage. Boxes shipped must go to recognized charity or organizations which must be cleared by Air 'Canada first. Sunday morning Bruce Thomson sang' a song he wrote Jesus I Adore You. The, officers consist of president Jane Straatman, Vice-president Susan Hodgins, Secretary is rotating and the press reporter is Lynda Jane McIntyre. At the meeting the girls discussed the food processor, Susan, Pam, Terri and Jane prepared the tacos which' were enjoyed by all. There are eight members in the club. Meeting three was held at the home of Pam Moor, March 26.. At this meeting we talked about Slow cookers and pressure cookers. Two guests were in at- tendance, One to talk about slow cookers and the other about pressure cookers. The Blues took a 3-2 lead into the second game but the lead soon diminished as UCW theme on Japan The Evening 'Unit\ of the United Church Women met Tuesday in the C.E. wing of the Church under the direction of Unit Leader Freeda Melanson, Marj Park and Mabel Froats shared in leading a very informative study on Japan using quizzes, maps, pyures and descriptions of Home Life, Education, Religions, and Festivals. Marj concluded with a lovely Worship service which in- cluded two poems by the Japanese Christian poet Kagawa. The U.C.W. general meeting, was announced for Tuesday April 8 at 8' p.m. Rev. Camilla La Roche from Kirkton Woodham Charge will speak and show slides.of the Holy Land. Members were encouraged to prepare articles for the U.C.W. table at the craft show, April 19. Scoring champ, Chris Mouritzen, tied the game at six when he picked up a rebound off to the side of the net and banged it into light the lamp, Taylor completed his hattrick as he beat Ewer from the slot after Andy Hardy had carried the puck down the boards and behind the net before dumping the pass out to Taylor. Brian Dick tied it at seven with a shorthanded goal after he had skated around the defence and fired a shot through Hacker goalie, Chuck Fredin's legs. Rick Thomas gave the Hackers the lead back and this time they would not relinquish it. Taylor then scored his fourth of the game on a powerplayas he stole the puck at Salon's blue line, went in alone on. Ewer, faked a deke and slid it between his legs. Gary Revington made it 10-7 with a breakaway goal as he took advantage of Salon's caught up defence. In the third period Scott Anderson scored as Fredin was caught behind his net after Mouritzen had stolen the puck from him and passed it to Anderson. Bev Chapman deflected Quilts completed at Lenten program Bill Darling's centering pass over Ewer for an 11-8 Hacker lead, Mouritzen scored the final goal as he was left alone in front of the net and was allowed to knock in• a rebound. Saturday, night the rec league annual banquet took place as the players and guests enjoyed a meal, trophy presentations and dance. Team trophies were the first to be presented with Salon: 174 winning the trophy for the league championship. The Blues took the Bill Carnochan Trophy for the "A" championship and the Bill Boshart Trophy went to the "B" champs, Hagen's Hackers. • Gord Moon of the Greens was voted the league's most valuable player while Rick Gwalchmai, also of the ' Greens, was awarded the most sportsmanlike player trophy. Each team voted on their own team's most improved players and were presented with trophies for their ef- forts. Winners were: Greens - Bruce Reed, Salqn 174 - Ron Keys, Blues - Steve Carter and Johri Prefontaine, Hagen's Hackers - Dennis Hackney and Rick Thomas. On the lighter side, George Ewer was presented "The Most Comical Player" award and received a giant bladed hockey stick for his actions after missing an open net earlier in the season. Richard "Tiger" Acres, Coach of the Greens was awarded the "Roger Neilson Award" for • his part in the firing-rehiring incident earlier in the season. Gary Isaac won the "Best Diver Award" and Chris Mouritzen won ",The Best Victory Dance Trophy" for his after goal actions. Bill Carnochan, co-founder of the Lucan rec league along with Bill Boshart, was back in Lucan for the banquet and was presented with a rec league all-star sweater for his earlier ef- forts. A monetary reward was presented to Shaun Porter for his time-keeping duties and to Paul Wraith as statistician and sportswriter. Again it was another good year of rec league hockey in Lucan under President Bill Boshart, Vice-President Mike Wraith, Public Relations Tom Hardy and Team Representatives Marty Wraith, Dennis Hackney, George Ewer and Don Lankin, Also, thanks to Leo Dewan and Bill Neil for devoting their time to handle the refereeing duties and to the poaches, Gary Manders, Ron Peters, Barb Wraith and Richard Acres.
