The marina was to be built on the east side of the High- way 21 bridge in an area known locally as the Mill Pond, There are already 470 slips in marinas on the west side of the bridge, making it the largest pleasure-craft harbor on the east side of Lake Huron. Huron planner Gary Davidson said following the meeting that Peever had attempted to compromise on the project by reducing its size, However, planning board still rejected it, Peever said Sunday he is "leaning towards" ap- pealing, Huron County council's rejection of his plan for a marina here to the Ontario Municipal Board. Peever said no decision will be made until he discusses the situation with his lawyer in about 10 days. He said that, despite the vocal opposition, there is a lot of support in the area for his plan. An official plan amend- ment to allow a 5,000-square- foot food store to be built in Zurich was approved by Huron County council. Don Beauchamp, who operates a grocery store in the village, plans to build the new supermarket on High- way 84 at the east end of the village.
