Speaking about the do's and don't involved in the popular sport she illustrated her talk with several humour ous incidents in- volved in family water skiing, "One of the most memorable times was when my sister lost ber'bildni bathing suit," she informed the group, "Now she always wears a one piece suit". Jeff Harmer placed second with a talk on energy con, servation and alternate methods. In the junior division Monica Scheifele took first place with a speech on sites on northern Ontario which have impressed her while on family holidays. She related how she had been impressed with little publicized Ouimet Canyon near• Thunder Bay which is 400' deep and is one of the deepest on the con- tinent. It was featured in the movie "To Catch the Sun" shown at Ontario Place and as a result she wrote. to the producer of the movie after seeing, the canyon to ask how they had been able to film the narrow wonder. By JOY sciliFEtE AILSA CRAIG Showing a great fondness for horses, grade four student Robbie McGregor took top honours in the junior division of the puhlie speaking contest held at East William Public School last Wednesday evening. "Clydesdale horses originated in Scotland", he informed his audience "and took their name from the Clyde River there". Luanne Wardell, another grade four student in. traduced her tepic, "Rab- bits", by showing a rabbit's feet on a key chain, She outlined the care a pet rabbit must be given and warned, "The right wire must be used on the cage. A friend of mine put too thin wire on her cage and a ,dog broke in and ate the rabbit!" Lianne Latta, also a grade four student, took third place speaking on child abuse.
