Special report
by MAUREEN GANS
When this special repoit
was being prepared for tht,.,
T-A, we were all wondering
what we could submit for a
"personal opinion" column.
There are plently of things to
complain about, so it wasn't
lack of choice, but I decided
it was about time someone
said something good about
our school And one of the
best things I can think of is
our Student's Council.
This year, they have done
a fantastic job of organizing
activities, planning special
events and creating a lively
spirit throughout the school.
With the help of Mr. Ellison,
our Student Council has
still get a point for par-
ticipating and it is a good
chance to get rowdy.
The Birds are still leading
on the scoreboard with 1863
points. The Bugs have really
been working, coming from
last to second place, with
1782 points, watch out Birds!
Then come the Dogs - 1657
points, then the Monkeys
with 1557 points.
The top junior is Tracey
Ducharme, a 9F Dog. The
top seniors are Murray
WareingDog11CandiDorothy
Kester 11 I Bird. The top
teacher is Mr: AlcDonnel,

The top homeroom is 12D
Birds.
done the best 'job, in many
years, to promote school
spirit. The intramural
program is unbeatable, and
is that way because of long
hours spent organizing and
imagining up wild and crazy
activities for the "animals"
to participate in. And their
support for our school teams
and yearbook is great.
So, on behalf of the whole
school I thank-you Mike
Burke, Patti Down, Jeff
Martens, Pete Klungel,
Chris Mittleholtz, Bonnie
Baynham, Liz Scott, Mr.
Ellison and of course, all the
home room reps. And I
congratulate all of you on a
job very well done!
Warnings to
snowmobilers
, . With relation to recent
marked increase in snow
Vehicle fatalities the follow-
ing release has been issued
by the Ontario Provincial
Police news bureau.
"The mild weather over
the past weeks has caused a
number of fatal snowmobile
accidents when snow-
mobilers broke through thin
ice. Four persons died near
Sault Ste. Marie last
weekend and two more per-
sons drowned in the
Kingston area. Several
skaters also died when they
tried to take advantage of
clear, snow free ice for some
winter exercise.
The OPP urges you to stay
off lakes and rivers until the
weather is cold enough to'
build up a good solid layer of
ice. If you're heading out on
a snowmobile this weekend
stay on the trails and oft' the
Waterways.
During 1979, the OPP in-
vestigated 24 fatal snoWvehi-
ele accidents resulting in the
deaths of 27 persons, and if
the present trend Continues,
an increase in the 1980
figures may well occur.
