The voter's meeting for
Zion Lutheran church was
held at the United Church
Sunday afternoon January
28. President Ron Merner
presided Pastor Mellecke
opened the meeting with a
brief meditation and prayer.
Reports show that it was a
successful year in spite of
the loss of the church in April
1979. I
Most goals were met and
donations from members
and other 'churches,
organizations and people
have made it possible to plan
for a new church in 1980.
Many items were
discussed, Miss Helen
Nadiger is church secretary,
Mrs. Esther Salmon pur-
chasing agent for the new
church, Le -onard
Restemayer grave digger
and Pastor Mellecke was
granted an increase in car
allowance.
Irvin Rader was appointed
delegate to the convention at
Kitchener in June with
alternate Leonard
Restemayer.
During 1979 there were
eight baptisms, 1 wedding
and 5 funerals and 8 con-
firmed.

Yet another tradition has
fallen to equality of the
sexes. Boys and young men
are being encouraged to join
4-H homemaking clubs. In
the past the clubs have only
been open to girls ages 12 to
26.
Huron County home
economist Grace Bird
says that some boys have
already joined the clubs
which centre around cooking
and sewing. Anyone of either
sex interested in joining this
spring's program should call
the home economists office
in Clinton at Zenith 72800.
An all-new topic is being
featured in the up-coming
clubs which should begin
meetings sometime after
February 1. The name of the
club is "Your corner of the
World" and it centres around
interior decorating, ac-

cording to Ms. Bird. The
project in this term will be
to make two accessories out
of macrame. Club members

such things as plant hangers
or wall hangings.
They will also be taught
floor plan arrangement,
colour schemes, and blen-
ding textiles. "They'll learn
to make their surroundings
attractive and comfortable,"
Ms. Bird says. Included in
the 4-H homemaking course
is instruction on personal
and social development.
Leaders from 13 different
clubs in South Huron met in
Exeter last Thursday to•
learn about the course and
how to macrame. Teaching
