Christmas Eve Service
The Christmas Eve Ser-
vice at Elimville was well
attended. The worship
service was conducted by
Pastor Ross Hargreaves.
The Young People enacted
the drama "No Silent
Night." The sermon was
God's Gift on Christmas Day
which was well given.
New Years party
Forty-seven adults and
children attended the New
Years party in the church
basement. A delicious
smorgasbord pot luck supper
was partaken of.
Some of the meal was
eaten by candlelight as the
hydro went off for awhile.
Miss Joan Pym conducted
the next part of the evening
which was much enjoyed by
all. A sing-song of Christmas
numbers were enjoyed with
Mrs. Howard Pym leading
and accompanied on the
piano by Mrs. Philip Johns.

will be starting out the ye
1980 with a new coach as they
attempt to break an 18 game
losing streak. '
Bill White relinquished the
coaching duties after an 11-3
drubbing at the hands of the
Durham Huskies, Friday
night. Manager Pete
Loveless will be behind the
bench to replace White.
The Jets also lost a-d to the
Chatham Maroons , on
December 21. A scheduled
contest the ..next night in
Cambridge = VAS ° cancelled
because of heavy fog
restricting travel.
The Jets were at home last
night Wednesday to the
Durham Huskies and will be
at the London Gardens
tonight, Thursday to take on
the London Kings. Game
time is 8 p.m.
In most recent losses,. the
Jets have started strong and
just seemed to run out of gas
along the midway mark.
This was the case in the 8-3
loss to Chatham,
The only goal of the first
period was scored by Bobbie
Dean of the L-I club on a
three-way effort with Ed
Parkinson and Jamie Robb
with only 12 seconds left on
the clbck.
Rick Banks converted a
pass from JaMie Robb at
1.21 of the second period, to
put the Jets in front 2-0.
Before the middle frame
was over, Chatham had
scored five times. Brian
Drambolis hit the mark with ,
two shots and single goals '
were added by Gary Brown,
Jack Kell and Randy Aitken.
The final Jets score of the
night came at 10.40 of the
third period from theatick of
Bob Dean with assists going
to Bruce Reddick and Terry
Johnston.
It was the same story in
the recent loss to Durham
with the Jets scoring the first
goal of the game. Hugh
Mitchell, the Purina Flash
who was the scoring hero for
the Jets with all three goals.
He notched the first goal of
the game with only 24
seconds having elapsed on a
slap shot. Ian McTavish
assisted.
In the last half of the first
session, Dean Nieman and
Chuck Niesen hit the mark to
put Durham in front 2-1.
The game was highlighted
by IOur goals by Durham
while they were playing
shorthanded. The first two
game early in the second
period and were scored by
Joe Burlington while the Jets
were enjoying a man ad-
vantage.
, Hugh Mitchell notched the
I second L-I goal at 10.17 of the
second period with Ian
McTavish again assisting.
Andy Grant made the score
5-2 for Durham later in the
same period.
The roof fell in on the Jets
in the third period as the
Huskies scored six times.

Mohawks scored a 10-5
victory on December 20 over
the Parkhill Merchants.

Monday the Mohawks will be
at Centralia College and the
' Grand Bend Mariners will be
at Goderich. '
In the 10-5 win over
Parkhill the Mohawks took a
3-2 lead after the first 20
minutes of play and were
never headed. They in-
creased the margin to 7-5
after the second period of
play and scored three
unanswered goals in the final
session.
The game scoring started
at 6.27 of the first period
when Ron Lockhart counted
for Parkhill. Mohawks
captain Brad Daters con-
verted a pass from Brad
Taylor to even the count at
8.31.
with Durham playing

The Mohawks took care of

scoring. At 26 seconds Tom
Ryan completed his hat trick
performance on passes from

Jeff Fuller notched the
final two goals. The first
came on a pass from Larry
Bourne and Randy Gilfillan
arid Bill Van Bergen helped
on the second.
Parkhill took seven of the
dozen minor penalties
handed out by referees
Wayne Corbett and. Jeff
O'Brien.
Quarter Horse shows held
during the previous year.
For example. there were
38 O.Q.H.A. approv,ed shows
in 1979 and those individuals
with the higheSt number of
points earned in- each class
at the 38 shows become eligi-
ble contenders.
Joanne and Miss Sundial
will compete at the Calgary
show in both team and in-
dividual events in four
classes, namely: Western
Horsemanship, Western
Pleasure, Western Riding
and Trail.
During 1979 Joanne and
Miss Sundial won four all-
around youth high point
trophies awarded by the
American Quarter Horse
Association for shows held
at Richmond Hill. Lindsay,
Parkhill and Windsor, in ad-
, dition, Miss Sundial was
awarded the A.Q.H.A.
Register of Merit in both
Westehi Pleastire and Trail.
She was also presented with
the YoUth A.Q.H.A. Superior
Western Pleasure Horse
award.
At the recent Area 1 On-
tario Quarter Horse
Promotional Assoclaiton an-
nual awards banquet held at
Blenheim, Ontario. Joanne
and Miss Sundial received
six firstplaceand two second
place year-end awards.
These awards are 15'ased on
the total aggregate points
earned during 1979 at the ten
approved Quarter Horse
shows held annually in Area
1 which comprises all of
Southwestern Ontario.
Joanne hnd Miss Sundial
were members of the On-
tario Youth Team which
competed at the All
American Quarter Horse
Congress held at Columbus,
Ohio in October, 1979, On-
tario placed 13th out of 52
teams representing the
various state and provincial
Quarter Horse Associations
throughout the United States
and Canada.
