United church
The Christmas service
December 23 was extremely
well attended in Lucan
United Church when Rev.
Keith Brown spoke on
"God's Christmas Gift to
Us", speaking from John
3:16. He told his
congregation that in the
hustle and bustle which
surrounds Christmas it is
easy to lose sight of the real
meaning of Christmas -
God's gift of His Son to the
World.
Edward Isaac, son of Paul
and Judith (Froats)
Melanson was baptized
during the service.
The beautiful red and
white floral arrangements
were placed in loving
memory of Mrs. Shirley
Mistele, by her daughter
Sandra Munro.
The Christmas eve family
service and Communion
was also very well attended.
The organ and chimes were
put to very good use
preceding the service with
Helen Brown playing many
carols. The Clandboye Choir
sang a lovely number
led by Winnie Robicheau.
The service, divided into
three sections was led by
Wesley Stanley, Cathy and
Henry Kaune and Ed.
Melanson, with Jeannie
Jones singing' two beautiful
solos.
Rev. Brown's New Year's
message on December 30th
was on the theme of "Doors -
Closed and Open". We can
keep people away from
Christ by the closed doors in
our lives doors of
elusiveness or of unloving
attitudes.
The Prayer and Share

A resid'ent on Lewis Street
in Lucan must have set a

During the forenoon he was.
out raking his lawn and in
the afternoon he mowed it!
This is not likely to happen
again in a good many years.
Can you better the record?,

Loys MelaniOn, playing

children from Children's

of the Christmas story, with
the baby Jesus being the gift.
James Henry played his
guitar as he sang "I Wonder
if This is Christmas." Clair
Swartz ministered singing
"Hark Now Hear The Angels
Sing."
Rev. Ray Brewster read
his scripture story,. There
has never been an event that
touched mankind as the birth
of Jesus Christ. When the
baby Jesus was presented at
the temple Simeon saw in
Him God's salvation, and a
spiritual light to shine on
mankind.
David Pritchard was the
song leader for the evening
service. The quartette
"Living Waters", ministered
in music and song.
Sunday morning Rev. Ray
Brewster was in charge of
the service. The Children's
Church group came to the
front of the church where
Judy Henry led them in
singing "Jesus Loves the
Little Children."
Speaking from Luke 15:11-
32, Rev Brewster told of a
father'S love, compared to
God's love. Like the prodigal
son, if we live in
disobedience to the Father,
we will not have success.
When we realize we are
contrary to God's way we
can make a change, come
back to the Father, and be
