Novice tourney
at Parkhill
A total of 27 teams will be
taking part in a novice
regional Silver Stick hockey
tournatment in Parkhill
from December 28 to 31,
The original Silver Stick
idea was to foster Inter-
national Goodwill and
Understanding through boys
of all ages. The founder,
former Canadian
Featherweight Boxing
Champion, Jack Kinsella of
Ottawa, had an idea and
enlisted the support of other
hockey men and as a result
in 1963 the first North
American Finals Tourna-
ment was held in Port
Huron, Michigan.
The Novice age players (8-
9 yrs, old) will only compete
in a regional tournament. All
other age level competitors
are eligible to compete in
the International Tourna-
ment if they win their
regional competition.
This regional Tournament
is under the supervision of a
Regional Director appointed
by the board of directors. All
tournaments require annual
sanction by the Board of
Directors.
It is very fitting that in
this, the year of the Child,
this age level has been
recognized and, allowed to
take part in the tournament.
The Exeter Waxers will
play their first game Sun-
day, December 30 at 11.45
a.m.
Only 24 seconds later,
Brian Johnston made the
score 2-0 on a play started by

There are many reasons
for Christmas. One is the joy
of giving and getting
presents. Another is the joy
of celebrating Jesus' bir-

meaning of Christmas. When
we give and receive gifts we
are doing it to celebrate
Jesus' birthday.
Sending a message

every happiness
