McGillivray managed to beat East Williams 15-4 and 15-10 in the first series. Their next oppo- nent was Adelaide who met a similar fate as McGillivray won the series 15-10 and 15-0. However, Parkhill team proved to be a stronger foe as they were successful in beating McGillivray 15-8 and 15-12, Following the round robin series, three schools - McGillivray. Parkhill and East Williams were tied for first with identical 2-1 records. However, McGillivray and Parkhill ad- vanced to the finals as they held the lowest points against totals accumulated during the competition. In the finals. Parkhill scored consecutive 15-9 victories over McGillivray Central to win the championship. All boys should be congratulated for their strong effort before a very enthusiastic crowd of well wishers, Thursday. November 22 McGillivray Student Council sponsored a girls' volleyball tournament. McGillivray girls* team defeated Adelaide, Parkhill and East Williams two games each. In the finals McGillivray defeated Adelaide to win the championship. All seven McGillivray girls, Martha Mallard. Cheryl Lynn, Bren- da Bullock. Debbie Hughes, Shannon McCallum, Christine Markus and Lynn Rowe served and played in championship style. Grades five and six students taught by Mrs. Freer and Mrs, Brophey en- joyed an educational field trip to the London Regional Children's Museum on Wednesday. November 21. They were shown slides of King Tut's tomb, pyramids and the location of the Nile Valley. The Egyptians wore linen clothing and wigs, Students got to make a scarab beetle which was found in many Egyptian necklaces. Main food of the Egyptians was bread, beer and onions. We think we'll stick to hamburgers and fries. The students also saw "An Old Fashioned Christmas" display and realized how differently Christmas was celebrated in pioneer days. To find an orange in your stocking was a real treat. Pioneer irons, sewing machines, horse collars, cradles and buggies were on display. Students could make a hobby horse, a Christmas decoration or write a letter to Santa. A senior citizen will answer all letters. Dear Santa, My name is Marily. I want to pass all my exams. Reports of the past year was heard from the chairman in charge. The election of officers for the coming year was presented by the nominating committee chairman Norm Amos. Following a , business discussion Mrs. Walter Creery showed a display of books suitable for Christmas gifts and gave a short description of each. Reverend Mary Mills closed the meeting with the Benediction Lunch was served by Mrs, Harold Davis and hostess. Mr, and Mrs. Jack Switzer were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Steffin, Lucan. A combined service of Granton, Saintsbury and Kirkton Anglican church congregations was held at St. Pauls, Kirkton, Bishop Maurice Robinson, London preached the sermon and celebrated Holy communion. The Epistle was read by Mr. Walter Creery Mrs. Reverend Mary Mills ad- ministered the rites of baptism to Lesley Elizabeth Anne infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs, Dave Swan. A social hour followed the service. A joint White Gift service was held Sunday morning in United Church. Steven Hawkins, Vicki Burgin, Bill Arthur, Alice Morning and Ray Switzer took part in the service, Children were all presented with balloons. Pot luck was served after the service. Then the Sunday Bazaar success at Brinsley By GORPON MORLEY BRINSLEY The ladies of St, Mary's church held a very suc- cessful christmas bazaar and tea Wednesday evening in the church basement. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Hodgins and Andrea, Strathroy, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Lewis, Mr. and Mrs. Wilbert Lewis and Carolynn, Mike Homer, Rae Lewis, and Arnold Kilmer were dinner - guests Sunday with Elmer, Ruth and Viola Lewis. Sunday evening Rev. and Mrs. Latham entertained the Board of Management and their husbands and wives to a pot-luck dinner at the rectory in Parkhill. The Brinsley trio, Cindy Prest, Tracey Hemming and Kathy Maynard sang at Music Night Sunday evening in the Ailsa Craig United Church. Janet Koricina returned home from St. Joseph's Hospital Thursday after her tonsil operation. Colin Brewer has gone back to University Hospital again. We wish him a speedy recovery. A number of people from the Brinsley area attended music night in Ailsa Craig United Church Sunday evening, Mr. and Mrs. Don Truemner and son have moved into their newly built home west of Brinsley just recently. Mr. and Mrs. Don Allen and Mr. and Mrs, Evan Hodgins convened the euchre party in the Brinsley school Friday evening with nine tables in play. Mr. Mac Howe of Win- nipeg Man„ visited friends in the village this week, A very successful boys volleyball tournament was held on Tuesday, November 20 at McGillivray Central School.
