The meeting opened with all repeating the 4-R pledge followed by the secretary's report. Roll call was answered by naming an article that was needlepointed and used in the home many years ago. Mrs. Diane Gerstenkorn then went back over all the meetings we had and made sure everyone understood everything. Diane then demonstrated how to do the Scotch Stitch. Each member is to have their book com- pleted for meeting six. The meeting was adjourned until October 30. On Tuesday the Needlepointers, Hensall number 2 club held their fifth meeting at the Hensall United Church. Each member repeated the pledge, then the roll call was taken, also the one from the previous meeting. Plans were discussed for Achievement Day and it was decided to put on an exhibit on "More about Stitches". The leaders then showed us another new stitch, the Cross stitch, to put on our coasters and pillows. The meeting ended up by everybody working on these stitches. Open with gospel singing Gospel singing opened the regular Sunday service at Hensall United Church on Sunday. The service was conducted by Rev. Stan C. McDonald with Mrs. Mary Moffatt at the organ and piano. The choir presented the anthem, "With a Voice of Singing" by Martin Shaw and the children's story was about prayer, illustrated by a story, "The man who missed the boat." Ther sermon was also on prayer and entitled, "Your call didn't go through." Good supply Hensall Sales Barn had a good supply of heifers and steers with demand being active and prices steady. Go Swimming The Hensall Young Teen group enjoyed an evening of swimming at Vanastra followed by further recreation at the home of Starr and Scott Jesney, Young teens will be meeting again on Friday evening, November 2 when they will be guests of Thames Road- Elimville Young Peoples for a Halloween party. Personals Mrs. Bertha MacGregor returned home after visiting over the week-end with Mrs. and Mrs. Don MacLaren, Jodi and Brooke in Oakville. Mrs. Ruby Bell visited during the past week with her daughter and son-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Ron Mason, Cindy and Tracey in Lan- sing, Michigan. Bruce and Jean Horton, Gayle, Dan and Jody and Allan and Jane Busche, Barbie, Joanne and Karen entertained Burt and Alma Horton to dinner at the Dominion Hotel Zurich in honour of their 45th wedding anniversary. Returns to England Michael King, who spent the last seven weeks touring Canada, and the last week With his uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Payne has returned to England. Mr. and Mrs, Leonard NoakeS attended the 39th Convocation at University of Waterloo on Friday. Their son Donald received his Master of Applied Science (Sys, Des.) Mrs. Lillian Beer attended the commencement exer- cises at Oakridge Secondary School, London, on Friday, when her son Steven received his Secondary School Honors Diploma. Steven, as well as being presented with an Ontario Scholarship, received an award for English. Due to an unfortunate accident while playing football last Fall for South Huron, he was hospitalized for two months, therefore earned his year with a semester system at Oakridge. Steven is presently at the University of Western Ontario. Personals Mrs. Tressa Fletcher and Mr. and Mrs, Harry Hoy attended a family dinner at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Hoy London following the Convocation ceremonies. Mrs. Donna St. John is spending a few days with Mrs. Sharon Hoffman and visiting friends around Hensall The Ladies of Carmel Presbyterian Church are holding their annual bazaar and bake sale on Saturday, November 3 at 3 p.m. Mr. and Mrs. Jbe Flynn returned home after spen- ding the week-end with the latter's brother-in-law and sister, Mr, and Mrs. Roy Allison in Toronto. Mrs, Ron Mason of Lan- sing, Michigan visited this week with her mother, Mrs. Ruby Bell. Mrs. Wm. J. McLean of Exeter was a recent visitor with Mrs. Bertha MacGregor. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Flynn were guests on Saturday at the wedding in Robinson United Church, London when Sam Rollins, former Hensall barber was united in marriage to Violet Rogers, London.
