WILLIAM ROHDE THAMES ROAD The 98th church Anniversary service was held on Sunday morning. Mrs. Glenn Jeffrey clerk of session was in charge of the church service. Rev. Bert Carr of London gave a very inspiring message on "The Faith of Our Fathers." The choir rendered asongaccompanied by the organist Miss Agnes Bray. Robert Heywood accompanied himself on the accordion sang three songs which were well liked. Friends or relatives which attended the service and spent the day in the com- munity were: Mr. and Mrs, Elliott By MRS. IRVIN RADER DASHWOOD Calvary United church held their anniversary Sunday, October 21 with special music provided by Dashwood and Grand Bend United church choirs. Special speaker at both services was Jack Burghardt, London. He gave two inspiring talks. At the morning service his topic was "We Would See Jesus" and in the evening "When is a Family Christian?" Many had a chance to visit with him during the social time that followed. Mr. and Mrs. Mervyn Tieman had a basket of flowers in the church in loving memory of Dr. Lorne Tieman of Middletown, New York, who passed away August 20. L. L. L. rally The Lutheran Laymen League held its fall Rally at Our Saviour Lutheran church, London, Sunday ,October 21, with Ted Ulmer, McRoberts, Exeter with Mr. and Mrs. Jack Stewart; Mr. and Mrs. Earl Ben- newies, Brodhagen, Mr. and Mrs. Alex Rohde, Mitchell, Mr. and Mrs. Dave Millar, Mr. and Mrs. Doug Rohde and Karen, Exeter with Mr. and Mrs. William Rohde; Miss Elaine Stewart, and Miss Ruth Bray of London and Miss Laurel Hodgert, St. Catharines spent the week-end at their respective homes here. There will be no services at the church on Sunday October 28 owing to Elimville anniversary, Personals Mrs. Emma Passmore, Mr. and Mrs. Russell Passmore of Ottawa visited recently in the community Kitchener, manager of the Lutheran Hour office guest speaker. Pastor Mellecke was in charge of the induction of the new officers. Discussion and dinner followed. A number of members from Zion Lutheran church attended. Personals Mrs. Gordon Bender and Mrs. Ralph Weber have returned home following a vacation in the north. They travelled to Tara where Mrs. Bender visited with her daughter and family Mr. and Mrs. Ken Richardson and Mrs. Weber with Mr. and Mrs. Paul Eagleson, Mrs. Weber then went to Little Current, Manitoulin Island where she visited with her daughter and family Mr. and Mrs. Eric Eagleson. On her return to Tara, Mrs. Bender accompanied her home. Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Rader were Saturday visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Wellwood Gill, Craigweil Gardens, Ailsa Craig, and Sunday guests with Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Gamble, London. CLANDEBOYE The Lucan turf club, party and dance Saturday night at the Lucan Community Centre was well attended, "Country Unlimited" sup- plied good music. Personals Shirley and Jack Ryan and family, RR 1 Lucan were hosts for a dinner party Sunday to honour Jean and Art Hodgins on their 35th wedding anniversary. Mrs. Mary Jane Carter of North Vancouver, B.C. spent the past two weeks with Mrs. Viola Carter while visiting with her mother, Mrs. Myrtle Brownlee at the Craigholme Nursing Home, Ailsa Craig. Mr. and Mrs. Stan Preszcator visited Sunday afternoon with Mrs. Mary Thornton and were Sunday supper guests with Mr. and Mrs. Robert England and boys, Huron Park. Miss Shellie McLeod celebrated her fifth birthday Sunday at the home of her parents Mr. and Mrs. Jim McLeod. Mrs. V. Armstrong, Exeter mother of Wm Armstrong is a patient in University Hospital London. and Patricia Brownlee and family before returning to their respective homes on Monday, Mary Ann Jenson, Toronto spent the weekend with. Helen and Jim Hearn, Donna and George Hind- marsh returned home Sunday from a six week's holiday with friends and relatives in England, Scotland and Wales. Mr, and Mrs. Clarence Teeple and Mrs. Wales of Port Dover were Saturday visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Harold Hardy, Betty Coughlin, Velma Hardy, Hazel Cunningham and Gladys Cunningham enjoyed a bus tour to Toronto Thursday with the Ailsa Craig group, where they attended the taping of the Tommy Hunter Show. Sorry about last week's headline in the Clandeboye news but this is not done by the correspondent, this happens somewhere down the line, after it leaves my hands. Apparently, someone in the office doesn't know that North Middlesex District High School and Medway are different schools. Clandeboye ladies at taping List turf club winners with relatives. Mrs. Arnold Cann is a patient in Westminster Campus London. Get well wishes are extended. Mr. and Mrs. Ross Hargreaves accompanied by Mrs. Britton and Mrs. Hazel Luther of Hensall attended the United Church Renewal Fellowship 14th Annual Fall Retreat at Barrie last week. Mr. and Mrs. Ross Hargreaves attended the Sweaburg church Anniversary Sunday. Ross was in charge of the service. They were dinner guests with Mr. and Mrs. Archie Longworth. They were supper guests with their son and his wife Mr. and Mrs. Ted Hargreaves, Woodstock. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Reeves and family Mr, and Mrs. Dwight Hargreaves were also at Ted's.
