Former Hensall man dies

away at Queen Elizabeth
Hospital, 550 University Ave.
Toronto, Wednesday October
17, 1979 in his 82nd year. He
was formerly of Hensall and
the husband of Catharine
(Gerster) MacDonald; a son
Hugh John MacDonald,
North Bay and a sister Mrs.
Kenneth King, London,
survive also surviving are
three grandchildren.
Funeral service was held
from the Bonthron Funeral
Home, Hensall on Friday
October 19 1979at 2 p.m. with
Rev. Stan McDonald of-
ficiating. Burial in Hensall
Union Cemetery.
Toronto man passes
Eric Colbert died suddenly
in Toronto on Saturday
October 13 in his 55th year.
He was a well known Sarnia
resident, where he worked as
an accountant and practised

Obituaries
Mrs. Helyn Drysdale was
in the chair for the
Thanksgiving meeting of
unit two of Hensall United
Church held in the church
parlour on Monday evening.
She opened with a selection
by John Greenleaf Whittier
on Thanksgiving. Mrs. Sadie
Hoy gave the devotional
prepared by Mrs. Elva
Forrest. In pasttimes,people
had less to be thankful for by
modern standards but they
were more thankful, Thanks
should be given at all times,
even in times of trouble. She
closed with a poem, "I
thank my friends".

Ladies entertained the
residents playing Bingo and
passed out treats. The Men's
high bowling score was Neil
Regan with 141 and the
Ladies' High score was Edna
Youn with 108.
Special speaker
for mission
The Rev. Michael Boulger
of Monkton, preached at
Hensall United Church on
Sunday for Mission Sunday;
he is a former missionary in
Western Canada. Rev
Boulger took as his subject,
"Missions in a circle of
love". The choir, led by Mrs.
Marianne McCaffrey, sang,
"Now let us all praise God
and sing" by Gordon Young
with Dr. Ralph Topp at the
organ.
A bale of used clothing is
to be packed Tuesday,
October 30 at 9 a.m. at the
Church. Anyone wishing to
make a donation to the bale
should leave clothing at the
church prior to this date.

Rev. Kenneth Knight
conducted service in Carmel
Presbyterian Church on
Sunday, speaking on the
selection of Elders which are
to be chosen. Rev. Knight's
New Testament Lesson was
taken from I Peter 5: 1-7
speaking on "I appeal to you
to be shepherds of the flock
you are responsible for".
There will be no service next
Sunday October 28th as
Caven Presbyterian Church
Exeter are observing their
Anniversary service when
Rev. G.L. Royal of Knox
Church Goderich is to be
guest speaker. Service on
Sunday November 4th will be
at the hour of 11:30 a.m.
Steady prices
Sales Barn prices
remained steady last week
with and active demand and
sales being mostly in heifers
and steers. Fat cattle;
steers, $74.00 - $80.50, top to
$81.25; heifers, $72.00 -
$78.50, top to $83.25. Pigs,
$24.00 - $36.25.
A total of 15 members
answered the roll call with
suggestions for Christmas
favours for trays in
Queensway Nursing Home;
there were four visitors
present.
Miss Mary Goodwin
assisted by Mrs. Kay Mock
presented a skit, "Reflec-
tions on Stewardship" for the
study presenting many sides
to the duty of stewardship.
Mrs. Diane Gerstenkorn
gave a report of the fall
Regional meeting held at
Elimville on Tuesday,
October 9, The morning
speaker Mrs .Alma Langford,
Exeter, gave the address
explaining the symbol of the
year of the child and Mrs.
Judith Adam was the af-
ternoon speaker, assistant to
Helen Allen, writer of
"Today's Child". The new
president for the regional is
Mrs. Carla Willert of Exeter.
Unit two is'responsible for
the programme at the
General meeting in December
also for flowers and
decorating the church in
December. United Church
calendars will be on sale
again and the bale will be
packed on October 30.
To complete the evening,
Mrs. Anita Cook demon-
strated her collection of
pottery and told of the
fascinationsof the hobby for
her. Both the display and the
talk were most interesting.
To close, Mrs. Drysdale read
another paragraph, "The
dignity of labour and a
prayer, Bless this House".

Mr. Harvey Keyes who has
been a patient in University
Hospitfl, London for several
weeks is recuperating. His
many friends wish him a
speedy recovery.
Mrs. Fraser of Ottawa has
been visiting with her
mother Mrs. Harvey Keyes
and also with her father who
is a patient in University
Hospital London.
Mrs. Mel Glanville is a
patient in Victoria Hospital,
London where she is
receiving treatment.
Mrs. Alice Ferg spent the
week-end visiting with her
sister and brother-in-law Mr.
and Mrs. George Coulter in
Listowei.
Mrs. Gladys Wilson, Mr.
and Mrs. Michael Croft and
Shannon of Brantford visited
on Sunday with Mr. and
Mrs. Leonard Noakes.
Mr. and Mrs. Don Gooding
and Dal of Parkhill were
recent visitors with Mrs.
Gooding's mother Mrs.
Edgar Munn.
Mr. and Mrs. Eric Luther
returned home after a
pleasant trip to Winnipeg
and Lethbridge.
Mrs. Pearl Erratt who was
a patient in St. Joseph's
Hospital London undergoing
treatment returned to her
home this week. Her many
friends wish her a speedy
recovery.

returned to Los Angeles
California after spending a
pleasant visit with her
parents Mr. and Mrs. John
Heal.

of Exeter visited with Mr.
and Mrs. Sam Oesch on
Sunday evening.
Mr. and Mrs. Ross
Alexander visited with Mr.
and Mrs. Ian Sim and family
in Galt over the weekend.
Mr . Michael King of
Sutton, Surrey, England is
visiting this week with his
aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs.
Carl Payne. Others visitors

speaker Adrian Bayley of
Rummage sale
again success
There was a good response
at the semi-annual rummage
sale sponsored by the
Hensall Kinettes ' at the
Legion Hall on Thursday,
October 18. Any unsold ar-
ticles at the end of the sale
were donated to the London
Salvation Army. The Kin-
ettes would like to thank all
those who helped or con-
tributed to the success of the
sale in any way.
Attend fall rally
Several members of the
"Three Links" Senior
Citizdris of Hensall attended
the 4th fall rally in Clinton
Legion Hall on Wednesday.
Waterloo give
Student degree
Mr. and Mrs. Leonard
Noakes attended the 39th
Convocation at University of
Waterloo on Friday. Their
son Donald received his
degree as Master of Arts,
Science, Systems Design,
Agripress Hensall, when
they met at the home of Mrs.
Ernest Whitehouse in
October.
Mr. Bayley was a very
interesting speaker and told
of the work at Agripress as
the only agriculture ad-
vertising agent in North
America. He described the
different departments such
as copy, editorial and
photography.
He also described the
machines that make possible
the promotion programs. He
was introduced by Mrs.
Drummond and thanked by
Mrs. Campbell Eyre.
Mrs. Drummond chaired
the program and gave a
reading. Mrs. Grant McLean
read an article entitled "Do
Hensall celebrated her 80th
birthday on Saturday at the
home of her son Jack and his
wife Mary. Friends and
relatives gathered to extend
best wishes and to observe
her birthday with her, Mrs.
Brintnell received many
flowers, gifts and treats.
Refreshments were served
and a social time enjoyed

Mrs. Triebner reported on
the rally. Mrs. Harold
Parsons presented the
treasurer's report, Mrs.

Girls continue
4-H projects
The Hensall two 4H club,
the Needlepointers, met in
the United Church on
Tuesday, with all eight
members present. The roll
call was "one idea for the
club's presentation 'for
Achievement Day" which is
to be a skit. The minutes
were read and approved.
Considerable time was spent
working on the new sittches
for this meeting which were
the Scotch stitch and the
Cashmere stitch.

law, He also established the
Sarnia Airport. Mr. Colbert
served as city Alderman
during the 1950's.
At the time of his death in
Toronto he was Director
Administrative Operations--
Canada with I.T.T. Courier.
Eric, beloved husband of
Shirley (Chapman) for-
merly of Hensall, is also
survived by daughters
Cheryl and Marie Anne.
Funeral service was in
Toronto, Monday October 15
