Lucan, playing at home,
forced a third and final game
for the Ausable soccer B
championship by defeating
Exeter Centennials 2-1 in
overtime, Sunday.
The score was drawn 1-1
after 90 minutes regular
time, and the clubs played
additional time of two 15-
minute halves to resolve it.
Exeter had led the three-
game points final by taking
the first match 4-0 at Can-
ner's field last Sunday.
The tie goals were scored
within a minute of each other
in the first half of the full
game. Lucan's Pete Bakker
hit in a long shot at 24
minutes. The reply to it
came one minute later when
Exeter's Al Hern tipped in a
relay by Mike Janyu of a
corner-kick from Centennial
centre-forward Martin
DeBruyn.
Lucan opened at two
minutes of the first overtime
half with a header from Bob
Andrews. Then, at 10
minutes, Exeter's Martin
DeBruyn hit a direct free-
kick over a defensive wall
and into the Lucan net with a
perfect chip shot. But Jeff
Craigmile finally put it away
for Lucan with a score of six
minutes of the second
overtime half.
The Centennials began
strongly and, except for a
