Mr. and Mrs. Robert Marshall and Lana, and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Watson motored to Ottawa for the Thanksgiving weekend and visited Brent Marshall who is attending University there. Last weekend Brent visited with his parents and at- tended St. Marys Collegiate Commencement, Murray Switzer, Guelph College spent the weekend with his parents Mr. and Mrs. Jack Switzer and at- tended St. Marys Collegiate Commencement. Members will drive Through the communities of Ailsa Craig and Nairn and take away any articles for disposal not normally picked up by the regular garbage collection. The community is asked to please have any items they wish taken away out by the side of the road by 9 a.m. Saturday, The Lions will then pick up the articles and take them to a nearby dump. It will be a busy month for the Lions. Plans are currently underway as they prepare for the annual Halloween party for the community youngsters. On Halloween the children will be invited by the Lions club to a party at the K.O.A. camp. Here the children will be judged for best costumes, prizes awarded, en- tertainment and refresh- ments provided. A wagon will pick the children up in town and take them out to the campgrounds for the festivities. At the end of November they plan to hold their annual Turkey Shoot at the cam- pgrounds and everyone is invited to participate. In addition the club. recently donated $200 to Craigholme Nursing Home to purchase Cassette Tape Players which enable the residents to listen to books and stories on tapes. Also Stephens Jr. Miss Debbie Schaefer, Mr. Jim Rogers, Mr. Dan Mills, Mr. Larry Rundle, Mr. and Mrs, Bill Atthill, Mr. Murray Insley and friend, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Stephen and Kathy, also Mrs. Eckert grandmother from Stratford. they hope to become more active in visiting regularly at the Nursing Home. Nor is it all strictly planned events when the Lions lend a helping hand. Whenever any of the com- munity seniors move, the Lions would like it known that they are willing to give assistance. Recently six or seven members with two trucks helped move one of the town's seniors and they are always happy to help in this way, reported President Robert Thompson. "We want to be of service to the community and help others", he stressed. Plan clinic for blood By JOY SCHEIFELE A Red Cross Blood Donor Clinic will be held in the Lucan Community Centre Thursday, October 25, from 6 to 9 p.m, Members of the Lucan Women's Institute are busy contacting individuals and groups making all aware of the desperate need for blood, Veteran donors and per- sons willing to give blood for the first time are all en- couraged to attend the clinic.
