AILSA CRAIG
Saturday morning will find
the members of the Ailsa
Craig and District Lions
Club out bright and early as
they go about picking up
articles for discard in their
annual "Fall Clean Up".
Members will drive Through
the communities of Ailsa
Craig and Nairn and take
away any articles for
disposal not normally picked
up by the regular garbage
collection.
The community is asked to
please have any items they
wish taken away out by the
side of the road by 9 a.m.
Saturday, The Lions will
then pick up the articles and
take them to a nearby dump.
It will be a busy month for
the Lions. Plans are
currently underway as they
prepare for the annual
Halloween party for the
community youngsters. On
Halloween the children will
be invited by the Lions club
to a party at the K.O.A.
camp.
Here the children will be
judged for best costumes,
prizes awarded, en-
tertainment and refresh-
ments provided. A wagon
will pick the children up in
town and take them out to
the campgrounds for the
festivities.
At the end of November
they plan to hold their annual
Turkey Shoot at the cam-
pgrounds and everyone is
invited to participate.
In addition the club.
recently donated $200 to
Craigholme Nursing Home
to purchase Cassette Tape
Players which enable the
residents to listen to books
and stories on tapes. Also
Stephens Jr. Miss Debbie
Schaefer, Mr. Jim Rogers,
Mr. Dan Mills, Mr. Larry
Rundle, Mr. and Mrs, Bill
Atthill, Mr. Murray Insley
and friend, Mr. and Mrs. Joe
Stephen and Kathy, also
Mrs. Eckert grandmother
from Stratford.
they hope to become more
active in visiting regularly at
the Nursing Home.
Nor is it all strictly
planned events when the
Lions lend a helping hand.
Whenever any of the com-
munity seniors move, the
Lions would like it known
that they are willing to give
assistance.
Recently six or seven
members with two trucks
helped move one of the
town's seniors and they are
always happy to help in this
way, reported President
Robert Thompson. "We want
to be of service to the
community and help
others", he stressed.
