KIppen Jiy MRS, RENA CALDWELL Kippen East Women's Institute will meet at the home of Mrs. Ernest Whitehouse in Egmondville October 17 at 8.30 p.m. Guest speaker will be Adrian Bayley of Agripress. A skit will be presented and the roll call is to be answered by naming a food product containing soybeans. John Thomson, son of Mr. and Mrs, Bert Thomson got his leg caught in the power take off while pulling beans and underwent surgery in St. Joseph'sHospital London last week. Tom Munroe and Ian Munroe are spending Thanksgiving holiday in Muskoka. It was with regret that area residents of Kippen learned of the' death of a former resident, Glen Slavin in Huronyiew last week-end. By MRS. WILLIAM ROHDE THAMES ROAD Thirty-one ladies attended the Thank-Offering meeting of the U.C.W. Monday evening. Mrs. Lorne Ballantyne opened the Worship service with the theme "Our Thanks To Thee" and also a reading on the theme. Mrs. Lloyd Ballantyne read the Scripture Lesson and the Meditation. A reading "If Jesus Came to Your House" by Mrs. Glenn Jeffery. Mrs. Lee Wbber gave a reading "Thanksgiving" The offering was taken by Mrs. Jeffery and Mrs. Webber. The prayer was given by Mrs. Lorne Ballantyne. Mrs. Webber introduced Mrs. Les Thomson of Exeter who showed her pictures of Australia, Fiji and other places and gave the com- mentary, which was much enjoyed. She was thanked by Mrs. Jeffery and presented with a gift. Mrs. Rohde opened the business part of the meeting with a poem Giving Thanks. ' The usual business was dealt with. The luncheon is served supper is to be held Monday evening October 22, The meeting was closed with the singing of Now Thank We all our God. Mrs. Rohde gave a Thanksgiving prayer.
