Enjoying the midnight buffet at the Pinery Coach House south of Grand Bend are band manager Norbert Maier and Director Erich Renher of Austria, Hans Harms and John Kesteloot of the Thedford and Bosanquet Optimist, Bill Keunecke of the Pinery Coach House, and Bosanquet Reeve Charlie Srokosz. Thelma Brosseau was in charge of the meeting. Final plans were made for a progressive euchre party to be held in the Parish hall October 25, 8:00 p.m. It was unaminously passed that $500.00 be sent for in- sulation funds of the church. The ladies discussed the idea of having movies in the hall in the summer season for young children. Tea and sandwiches were served at the close of the meeting. Church of God news A 60 plus fellowship supper was held Monday evening at Church of God with 15 at- tending. They plan to meet again in November and organize a group. Church of God ladies met last Wednesday evening for their October meeting. Visitors were present from Powasson and Michigan. Fifteen answered the roll call by telling, "Something you have done for someone recently." Mrs. Harold Chamberlain led the workship on Thanksgiving. Janet Desjardine also gave a message on Thanksgiving. President, Mrs. Katie Vincent conducted the business. Lunch hostess was Mrs. Deanna MacGregor. A good number of people attended 30th anniversary services, morning and evening at Church of God. Special speaker at this time was Dr. W.E. Reed, of Anderson, Indiana, who is Bosanquet Township took on an International flavour last week, when 50 visitors from Austria were in the area. The 50 men were all members of the Donowitz Brass band and they treated executive secretary for Church of God. Morning prayer was led by Mr. Gar Myers, of Annapolis Royal, Nova Scotia, former resident of this area. Special music at the morning service was a duet by Rev. John, and Betty Campbell, singing, "God's wonderful people." Special music in the evening featured numbers from the German Church of God, in Kitchener. Lunch and fellowship hour followed the evening service. During the coming week other Church of God minister's will be coming to meet Dr. Reed during his stay in Grand Bend. United church news Special service at the United church Sunday morning, combined annual National Thanksgiving, World Wide Communion and Reception of new members. Rev. H. Moore's sermon topic was "It is good to give thanks to the Lord," with scripture from Psalm 92:verses 1-5. The World Outreach Workshop will take place at Parkview United Church, Stratford, October 13, from 9-4:30. Bring a bag lunch. A concert featuring Kris and Ron Klusmeier in a family "sing-a-long" concert will be held on october 27th at Main St. United Church, Mitchell, at 7:30 p.m.. $2.50 for adults, $1.00 for children 6-16. apiece, so it was decided that a extra half hour be played to break the tie. Nairn will be in Grand Bend for the finals. The band was brought to the area by the Thedford and Bosanquet Optimist Club, and all proceeds from the concerts went to arena improvements. Optimist Hans Harms was responsible for bringing in the group. The band members were all steel workers at a plant in Austria. For the majority of them, this was their first visit in Canada. The band is touring Ontario, and their stops in Bosanquet were part of an itinerary that included Toronto, Hamilton, Kitchener, Sault Ste, Marie and London. Pinery OPP Pinery detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police laid seven charges under the liquor licence act during the week of September 30 to October 6. Three people were charged under the highway traffic act, and two thefts were investigated. Two people were charged under the provincial parks act, and two criminal code charges were laid. At work period the girls learned cross stitch. Next meeting will be at Tammy Durand's home. The "Rolling Coasters," 4- H club no, 2, met Tuesday evening at leader Marg Desjardine's home with all members present, for meeting four. Roll call was to name, "One idea for your club's presentation at Achievement Day." At this needlepoint work session the girls learned the scotch and cashmere stit- ches. A reading "A gift of Friendship," was given by Alma Prance. Ross and Nola Love played several violin and piano selections. "Happy Birthday" was sung for those having Sep- tember and October bir- thdays, JIm and Alma Prance were honored by the group on the occasion of their 60th wedding anniversary, and presented a bouquet of flowers by Clara Hamilton.
