The lessons cost $10 for 10 weeks, Forty-two people were out for the first week of lessons but there's still room for more. All that we ask is that everyone either wear soft- soled (rubber) shoes or dance in their stocking feet to save wear and tear on the gym floor. For information call the resource centre at 228-6302, Stephen neighbourhood nursery school is still looking for some more recipes so they can complete their recipe book, So if you have some special dishes you'd like to share, please drop by the resource centre and fill out a recipe form. Many Stephen township residents have been asking about getting a figure skating club set up at the Stephen arena, We are at present looking into rental times, instructor fees. etc. And we are planning on holding a public meeting in the very near future to find if there is sufficientinterest in a club. Watch this column for the date of the meeting and in the meantime, please spread the word about the possibility of a club starting. EXETER Will not lose hospital beds Page 10 By MAN The Greenway United Church Women were hosts for the annual Thanksgiving ecumenical service for area ladies, numbering 60 Thursday evening Mrs. Carman Woodburn and Lillian Ulens welcomed the ladies upon their arrival, while a recording of organ and piano music was being played. President Mrs. Olive Horner opened the service with a poem "Everyday, Thanksgiving. Following the hymn "Hark the voice of Jesus calling", Mrs. Horner in a short devotional reminded her listeners that harvest time comes as a result of man and co- operation with God, and one should seize the opportunity to share that harvest with those who are in need. Bob Heywood, Centralia, the guest speaker, rendered three vocal numbers "Let me be", "Just a closer walk with Thee" and "Glory to His name". Mrs. Joan Eagleson of the Grand Bend United Church gave a reading, paraphrasing the parable of the 10 talents. Mrs. Roberta Walker of the Immaculate UEL. Ladies from Grace Anglican Church, Greenway was also in attendance. Douglas Woodburn of the host church favored with two vocal selections, "Keep on the sunny side" and "How great Thou art". The president then in- troduced the speaker, Bob Heywood. He spoke of the one great Christian belief we all share in common-that of a risen Saviour. He also ex- pressed the hope that because of the exceptional fine harvest weather we have enjoyed this year, we paused to say "Thanks" to the Giver. The offering was received by Mrs. Iva Lagerwerf and Mrs. Doris Eagleson, which amounted to $80.25 and has since been sent to the Oxford Tornado Fund. Lunch was served, headed by the committees of Mrs. Jack Hutchinson and Mrs. Ken Rock, The U.C.W. held their October meeting on Wed- nesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Ken Rock, Parkhill. Congratulations to Brenda Romphf and Danny Isaac who were married in. the Arkona United Church, Saturday afternoon. Brenda is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Romphf, and- Danny, the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Ken Isaac. Mr. and Mrs. Ken Eagleson and Mr. and Mrs. Morley Eagleson were hosts at the former's home, Friday evening for a family gathering honoring their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Eagleson on their wedding anniversary. Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur McLinchey, Mr. and Mrs. John Schofield, Manuel and Evelyn Curts were among those who attended open house, Monday afternoon at the home of Mr. and Mrs. James Prance, Grand Bend on the occasion of their 60th wedding anniversary. IRVIN RADER DASHWOOD Dashwood Women's Institute held the October meeting Tuesday, October 2 with Elimville, Grand Bend, Hensall, Hurondale and Zurich Institutes guests as well as Rev. Harley Moore, Grand Bend, who gave a travelogue and showed pictures of a 39 day trip he and his wife took to England. Each Institute provided a number for the program. Mrs. Mervyn Tieman and Mrs. Ross Love sang duets for Dashwood; Mrs. Morley Desjardine, Grand Bend, sang a solo, "Take My Hand"; Mrs. Harvey Horner gave a reading for Zurich; Hensall had Mrs. Jack Corbett do a monologue; Ten old favorites were played on the piano by Hurondale and Mrs. Ross Love won the prize for recognizing them all. Mrs. Ray Rader presented the bursary award from the institutes of Huron County to Shiela Willert for com- pleting 24 projects in 4-H work, An invitation from Hensall W. Mrs. Everett Haist had the misfortune of falling and breaking her leg. She is in University hospital. Word has been received here of the death of Mrs. Wm, (Barbara) Wein 92, September 10 at Vancouver B.C. She was a-resident of Dashwood for a number of years and Librarian from 1947-1955. Surviving are two daughters, Marie, London, and Grace, Vancouver, as well as three granchildren. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Poland and Lois, Campbellford, were weekend guests with Mrs. Cora Gaiser. Mr. and Mrs. Mike Burke and Susan, Brampton,s spent the weekend with Mr. ,and Mrs. Lloyd Willert family.
