Exeter came back to take
the nightcap 11-5.
Jeff Fuller was on the
mound for Exeter in the
Sunday finale and pitched a
strong game. He gave up six
hits, but, was tough in the
clutches shutting off several
promising Kincardine
rallies.
Exeter scored two runs in
the first inning as Pete
Tuckey doubled, Dave Shaw
walked and both scored on a
two base blow from the bat of
Wayne Parsons.
Doug Hoffman walked and
scored on singles delivered
by Kevin Parsons and Steve
Pearce in the Exeter fourth.
The final tally for the
locals crossed the plate in
the sixth when Greg Prout
cracked out a double and
rounded the bases on a single
by Doug Hoffman.
Steve Pearce was the
winning pitcher for Exeter in

The Lucan-Ilderton Jets
gained an even split in their
first two exhibition hockey
games this fall.
Friday night they dropped
a 12-6 decision to the
Woodstock Royals and
Sunday they gained revenge
with a 5-3 win over the same
club in Lucan.
The Jets resume play
tonight, Wednesday when
they meet the Stratford
Perths at the Lucan arena.
The L-I club plays the return
game in Stratford on October
3 and opens the regular OHA
Continental season in
Ilderton on Sunday af-
ternoon, October 7 against
the Woodstock Royals.
Don Urbshott of the Jets
told the T-A Tuesday mor-
ning, "We have signed
former semi-pro goal tender
Peter Crosbie who played
junior in St. Catharines and
London. He will be in the nets
when we meet Stratford in
Lucan, Wednesday."
, Usbshott who was one of
the driving forces behind the
organization of the Jets has
turned his managerial duties
over to Pete Loveless, but,
will continue as the team's
contact with the 011A. Bill
White is the new coach.
Other new players out with
the team are Hugh Mitchell
from the University of
Guelph and London Squires,
Brian Johnson, University of
Illinois, 'Bobby Dean,
Strathroy Juniors and Dave
Brown, London Diamonds.
Mitchell is now a resident of
Exeter.
Two unanswered goals in
the third period allowed the
Jets to take Sunday's 5-3 win
over Woodstock. Brian
Johnson counted on a pass
from Hugh Mitchell and
Jamie Robb scored on an
unassisted effort. Both goals
came in the last four minutes
of play.
The game was only 25
seconds old when Hugh
Mitchell converted a pass
from Randy Kraul to put the
Jets into the lead.
Dave Rooney tied the
score for Woodstock at 3.21
only to have Brian Haskett
score on a three-way effort
with Jamie Robb and Rick
Bankes at 9.05.
In the second period, Tom
Hodgins scored for the Jets
on a slap shot after taking a
pass from Ian McTavish.
Doug Simon and Paul
Downing counted for
Woodstock to even the score
at 3-3 after 40 minutes of
play,
Ex-St. Marys Lincoln
Terry Warboys scored four
goals to lead the Royals to
their 12-6 Friday night romp
over the Jets. Ron Simon
added two goals and singles
were fired by Colin Simpson,
Ken Russell, Ted Brown,
Paul Downing, Gene
McLaren and Ted Long.
Warboys, was seriously
injured in a car accident
over the week-end and likely
will be out for the entire
year.
Chuck Robbins was the top
goal scorer for the Jets with
two successful shots. Scoring
in single fashion were Ed
Parkinson, Brian Johnson,
Dave Bradley and Randy
Hill,
Hod gert best
at Claybird
Grant Hodgert fired a
perfect score of 25 to lead the
trap shooters at the claybird
gun club, Sunday. Next with
scores of 24 each were Bill
Weber, Wayne Riddell, Bill
Cochrane and Tom Russell.
Larry Mason scored 22,
Jody Mosurinjohn 21 and
John Morgan and Don
Russell 18. Russ Beaver hit
17, Paul Fontain 14 and Doug
Russell 12.
Out of a possible 30 in
doubles, Bill Cochrane led
with 27, Bill Weber and Tom
Russell were tied at 25,
Wayne Riddell scored 20 and
Grant Hodgert 18.
Cochrane also led the skeet
shooters with 23. Tom
Russell and Grant Hodgert
were next at 19, John Fisher
hit 18 and Doug Russell five.

The Exeter midgets won

Exeter diamond was
unavailable because of the
fair.
After winning the first
game of the best-of-five
series a week earlier, the two
teams split a doubleheader
in Kincardine Saturday and
the locals wrapped up the
A banquet attended by 33
ladies ended the golfing
season Tuesday at the
Exeter golf and country
club.
Retiring president
Dorothy Marks was in
charge of the trophy
presentations after all en-
joyed a beef dinner.
Lois Snell was the "A"
flight champion, Gert
Middleton was the "B"
winner and top honours in
the "C" flight went to Marg
Lovell. Gert Beaver won the
prize as the most honest
golfer.
A gift of appreciation was
presented to hostess Hazel
Westcott by Dorothy Kipfer.
In an election of officers
Fran Mickle was named
president with Rena McLean
as secretary-treasurer, Lois
Snell as scorekeeper and a
telephone committee con-
sisting of Edna Busche, Barb
Harrison and Helen Klein-
stiver,
The balance of the evening

Terry Baker fired a 25 to
lead the 27 shooters par-
ticipating in Sunday's
regular competition at the
Kippen gun club.
Deadlocked for second
place with 24 each were Burt
Mahaffey and Bob Caldwell.

After three weeks of play,
three teams are tied for first
place.
All even at 10 points a
piece are the Family Affair,
Outlaws and Winkers.
Deadlocked in the runnerup
spot with eight points each
are the Scotties, Out of
Space, Sassenachs and
Nicky Tams.
Six teams are even at
seven points. They are the
Shiphunters, Canscotts,
Itchy Niters, Doublers,
Rowdy Ones and Chances.
The DR's and Evil Eyes each
have six points and the
CB'ers trail with four points.

The Exeter pee wees took
a one-game lead in their
best-of-three WOAA baseball
final when they whipped
Hanover 14-7, Sunday.
Playing in Hanover, the
locals jumped into an early
lead and never looked back
as they had their bats
ringing after a layoff of over
two weeks. George Pratt,
Steve Merner, Scott Bogart
and Ray Hamilton paced the
attack with two hits each.
Jeff Pfaff recorded the win
on the mound for the locals,
giving up six hits.
Second game will be
played in Exeter this
Saturday at 2:00 and if the
locals lose, the final will be
here on Sunday at 2:00.

Jets split exhibitions
Saturday's win in Kin-
cardine. He held the op-
position to only four hits. His
only problems came in the
first inning when he gave up
three runs and in the third
when Kincardine scored
their final two runs.
Singles by Pete Tuckey,
Greg Prout and Bruce Shaw
sent the first Exeter run
across the plate in their first
time at bat.
Walks and errors con-
tributed greatly to a six run
Exeter outburst in the
second inning. Aiding with
hits were Doug Hoffman and
Dave Woodward.
Singles by Steve Pearce
and Dave Woodward
produced two Exeter scores
in the fourth and they scored
the final four runs in the
sixth. Base hits came from
the bats of Pete Tuckey,
Bruce Shaw, Steve Pearce
and Wayne Parsons.
Kincardine scored a single
run in the bottom of the
seventh to take Saturday's
first game by a score of 6-5.
The first two Exeter runs
came in the second frame as
the result of singles by Dave
Woodward and Rich Flet-
cher.
In the Exeter fifth, Wayne
Parsons and Doug Hoffman
walked and were able to
score without the aid of any
hits.
The final Exeter run came
in the sixth on singles by
Steve Pearce, Greg Prout
and Kevin Parsons.
