Exeter woman tops
arts, crafts section
Rhea Green took the prize
for the most points in the arts
and crafts section of the
Exeter Fair, Mrs, Green
took firsts in the burlap back
ground picture, the hand
decorated bottle, decoupage
plaque, three dimensional
picture, wooden spoon
figure fridgedoor decoration,
and a needlepoint picture.
She received seconds for her
large embroidered crewel
picture, dried weed and
flower arrangements and a
Christmas decoration.
Lorne Hern of RR 1
Woodham won first prize
with his macrame wall
hanging and Fern Dougall of
RR •3 Exeter won in the
macrame plant hangers
section. Robert Down of RR
1 Hensall took first for the
embroidered crewel picture
under 12 inches. The $5 prize
was donated by the Elimville
Women's Institute.
Ella Willard of RR 1
Centralia won first prize for
her large embroidered
crewel picture.
Susan McAllister won
firsts in the dried
arrangement, an autumn
decoration,an apple doll, and
a weaving. She also received
a second for her decoupage
plaque.
Dorothy Simpson won first
with her item made from
throw away, cans and bottles.
Victor Hogarth won in the
section for petitpoint and
Gwen Coward wbn for an
article of bargello.

Elizabeth Riley won the
Doris Westman special for
the most points in the liquid
embroidery class. Mrs.
Riley won a first for her
pillow case, a second for her
cushion cover and a third for
a quilt. Mrs. Jack Stewart
took first for her cushion
cover and Mrs. Charles
Rollings won sections for
tablecloths. Maleeda Schenk
took first for her quilt.
Donna Voerman won the
prize for the most points in
the painting section. She took
firsts in the abstract and
open sections.
Brad Baynham and Elaine
Baynham tied for having the
most points in the
photography classes and
received the prize donated
by Livingstones. Brad took
seconds in both black and
.white categories, and came
away with three seconds and
a third in the colour sections.
Elaine took first in scenes
and portraits, as well as one
second and three thirds.
Elaine Runnals and
Robert Whiteford won in the
black, and white sections.
John Dobbs and Terry Sch-
wartzentruber also took
firsts in the colour photos
section, along with Ruth
Jeffrey and Danny
Stuckless.
In the Junior Arts and
Crafts competition Suzanne
Patterson took the prize for
the most entries. Suzanne
won for her painting fabric
work, and drawing. In the
painting category Lisa
Rundle took second and
Donna Voerman received
third. Judges said that this
was a difficult section to
choose from since the three
works were very different.
Donna Voerman took a
first .in the drawing section
and Pearl Buswell took first
in macrame, Brad Baynham
took two firsts for
photography in the junior
section.
Flowers
draw good
showing
Josie Ryckman won the
flower queen title at the 1979
Exeter Fall Fair. Ila Love
was second and, ,Gwen
Coward third.
Mrs. Ryckman won 10 red
ribbons, nine seconds and
two thirds while Mrs. Love
took eight top' prizes, six
seconds and a third and Mrs.
Coward five seconds and
three thirds.
The flower queen scored
four wins in cut flowers. She
won two firsts in each of the
coxeomb and zinnia sections.
In arrangements she won
with yellow and orange
flowers, Baby's Own
arrangement, Harvest Time,
Kitchen Aid, as ter
arrangements and a vertical
arrangement.
Mrs. Love was first in
Coleus, African violets, two
petunia categories, Brilliant,
'Beauty and Simplicity
arrangements a candlelight
and wine setting and an old
fashioned arrangement.
