With Mrs. Kay Elder assisting her they gave a beautiful devotional revealing the many times that Jesus befriended people that He met and knew their need of His love and they in turn learned to love Him. The minutes of the June meeting were read and adopted; roll call was an- swered by 10 ladies. Mrs. Audrey Joynt reported on their adopted girl, Ning Khan Man and two members volunteered to write letters to her. Unit one will be responsible for flowers in the Sanctuary in October and also visit at the Queensway Nursing Home in October. An interesting study on the world food supply Aid was given by Mrs. Anita Cook. Anita also quoted from "Foreign Aid" by David Spurgeon. Canadian Cor- porations are assisting the International Developement Research Centre; this corporation in turn supports research at the University of Waterloo which in turn helps on some third world projects. See pictures The devotion at the Sep- tember meeting of Unit two was given by Mrs. Hazel Corbett on "Labour and Literacy". She closed with a poem, "Work to do". The meeting was chaired by Mrs. Elva Forrest who opened with a poem, "Vacation Time". The evening closed, with the Mizpah benediction and lunch served by Jean Wareing. Hear about Alma College Unit four of Hensall U.C.W. opened the autumn season with a sumptuous pot luck dinner in the Fellowship Hall at noon on Thursday, Sept timber 6. There was a good attendance. Mrs. Britton presided for the meeting and opened with a moment of silence and read a hymn in memory of their late president, Mrs. Jessie McAllister, who passed away during the summer. Mrs. Britton reported on her visit to the Alma College One Day School for Women. The general meeting is to be held on Monday evening at 7 p.m. with a potluck supper and the Regional meeting will be held at Elimville on October 9. Mrs. Sim Roobol gave several short readings and Mrs. Dorothy Mickle, ac- companied by Mrs. Tom Sherritt, led in a hymn sing. Mrs. Mickle also played a piano solo, "Amazing Grace". Rev. Stan C. McDonald pronounced the benediction. Hold potluck supper The Hensall Women's Institute opened their fall season with a potluck sup- per; 15 members and four visitors attended. At the meeting following, the president opened with a poem, "The things I prize". Three cards of thanks were received. The Huron County Historical Society will hold their next meeting at Kirkton on October 17 and an invitation to visit the Grand Bend Museum was held over until next year. The recreation committee of Hensall junior athletics acknowledged a contribution towards the new Ball Park with thanks. Huron County Fall Rally will be held at Elimville on Monday October 1 with registration at 9 a.m. and an exchange of plants. Chair- man will be Mrs. Hilda Payne. An invitation to visit Dashwood Women's Institute on Tuesday evening at B p.m. was accepted and Hensall branch will be holding a Dessert Euchre in the Legion Hall at 1.30 on Wednesday, October 17 to which all branches of Huron South are invited and the general public. The London Area Convention will be held in St, Marys this year on November 1 and 2. The programme consisted of Donna Taylor playing two piano duets and Mrs, Dianne Gerstenkorn showed pic- tures of her recent trip to Germany and Austria. Fall Rally in Belgrave The W.M.S. of Carmel Presbyterian Church met on Monday evening with the President Mrs. Harvey Hyde presiding and opened the meeting with a poem entitled "Loving Thoughts" and led in Prayer. Mrs. Edith Bell was in charge of the Devotional "Courage" stating it takes a great deal of courage to live in this world as a Christian, and gave a poem "The Unknown Future". Mrs. C. Volland read the Scripture Psalm 46 and Mrs. Bell led in prayer. Mrs. P. Campbell gave a reading "Back to Work" and Mrs. Bell gave a poem "God Knows Best". An invitation from Knox Presbyterian Church Goderich to be guests on Tuesday September 18th at 2:30 was received and arrangements made to at- tend. The Fall Rally will be held in Belgrave on October 10th at 1:30 p.m. The next meeting will be held on October 1st. Mrs, Esther Wright will be in charge of the Devotional. A moments silence was observed in loving memory of two members the late Mrs. Ellen Walker and Mrs. John Soldan. Bankers moved Mr. and Mrs. Ken Bellamy moved to Southampton where a new branch of the Bank of Montreal will open in October. Mr. Bellamy was 'on the staff of the Bank of Montreal, Zurich and Mrs, Bellamy was on the Staff of the branch. Their many friends wish them every success in the new local branch. Queensway visitors Visitors with Irma Wilds at the Queensway Nursing Home last weeek were Mr. and Mrs. Pat Wilds and family. Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Smith visited Mrs. Kendrick, Mrs. Lammie, and Mr. Pfaff. Bill and Helen Taylor visited Russell Erratt. Mrs. Mitchell visited with her family in Crediton on Sun- day. Rev. Van Essen con- ducted Church service at the Home assisted by Mrs. VanEssen. Men's high bowling score was Neil Regan with 199 and the Lady's high score was Mary Parlmer with 125. Hensall annexation meeting Hensall clerk-treasurer Betty Oke said Thursday that council is willing to meet with the four parties who filed objections over the annexation of a portion of Hay township by the village. Oke said a meeting will be called once the Huron county board of education has clarified its policy of the busing of students within the village. She said there has been concern expressed that students in the annexed area would have to walk to school. County planner Roman Dzus had suggested the meeting in order to avoid an Ontario Municipal Board hearing. Personals Mrs. Ruby Bell returned home after spending a few days last week visiting with her son and daughter-in 'law Mr. and Mrs. Mervyn Bell and family in London, Mrs. C. Volland presided at the Ladies' Aid meeting which followed. The arrangements were made to cater to a wedding on Sep- tember 29th. It was also decided to hold the annual Bazaar on November 3rd. Dr. and Mrs. Robert Mickle, Jamie and Craig of Cambridge, Charles Mickle, Hamilton, Mr. and Mrs. Brian Collins, Sarah and Jeffrey, Waterloo visited on Sunday with their mother Mrs. Laird Mickle and en- joyed a turkey dinner. Mr. Avril Brass St. Catharines and cousin Miss Joy Hughes of Bakerwell Derbyshire, England and Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Robb Lucan visited last week with Mrs. Gordon Schwalm. Mrs. Robert Watson, Seaforth and Mrs. E. Holland visited over the weekend with their sister, Mrs. Clendon Christie. Mrs. Elizabeth Jones of Prince Albert, Saskat- chewan, accompanied by her son Mr. Arthur Jones of Shellbrook Sask. visited with Mr. and Mrs. William Rogerson last week. Mr. Gordon Schwalm is spending a few weeks with his daughter and son-in-law Mr. & Mrs. Don Coglin, Debbie and Paul in Ford- wich. Miss Margaret Fuss of Honolulu, Hawaii is holidaying with her mother Mrs. H. Fuss and also with Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Fuss and members of the family. Mr. and Mrs. Al Amerlinck and Sheryl of Stratford were recent visitors with Mrs. Amerlinck's mother Mrs. Gordon Schwalm. Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Jaques celebrated their 40th anniversary Saturday night with a dance at the Exeter Legion Hall. Those who attended travelled from Dresden, St. Catharines, Bowmanville, Guelph, Toronto, Chatham, London, Lucan, Seaforth and surrounding areas. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Payne have returned from a two week visit to England where they visited with Mrs. Paynes sister. At the Hensall Sales Yard last Thursday the market was active with prices steady; sales consisted mainly of heifers and steers.
