The Three Links Senior Citizens opened their fall season with a pot luck supper on Tuesday evening which was much enjoyed by all attending. Mrs. Laird Mickle presided at the piano for the singing of "0 Canada" after which everyone joined in CHRISTIAN EDUCATION SUNDAY OBSERVED Christian Education Sunday was observed in Carmel Presbyterian Church on Sunday conducted by Rev. Kenneth Knight who spoke on "Supporting the Church's Educational Program". He also ad- dressed the Sunday School classes and teachers. Mrs. Clarence Volland presented seals and diplomas to the Sunday School members for attendance, and a Bible to Jerry Raber for perfect attendance. The VanWieren sisters Teresa, Audrey and Carol Ann favoured with three songs, the latter ac- companied on the guitar, Mrs. Robert Taylor presided at the organ for the service of song. Presentations of at- tendance awards to the Sunday School children was made at the end of the ser- vice at Hensall United Church on Sunday. The presentations were made by Mrs. Lorne Gackstetter, Rev. Stan C. McDonald and Rev. Garnett Husser. First year pin and cer- tificate was presented by Rev. Garnett Husser to Shawn Wurm and Thomas Scotchmer. Second year seal was presented to Jody Sararas, Billy Erb and Peter Cook. Third year seal to Jennie Taylor, Robert Gackstetter, Ricky Topp, Dianne Steb- bins, Lynne Shirray, Wayne Scotchmer, Pam Gackstetter, Joelle Beaver, Robbie Taylor and Travis Beaver. Fourth year seal to Billy Stebbins, fifth year seal to Dana Bazzato sixth year seal PLAN OPENING Hensall's newest business, Drysdale Major Appliance Centre, is having their grand opening this week. Bob and Jack Drysdale have recently completed their new building on King St. which features Western Ontario's largest display of over 200 appliances on the floor. The Hensall and district Kinsmen which was char- tered on April 28th 1954 celebrated their 25th an- niversary on Friday evening at the Hensall Community Centre. There was over 100 people attending the dinner which was catered by the Hensall ladies' Legion Auxiliary. Mozart Gelinas and his Melody Maker supplied the music for the dance which followed. Bevan Bonthron was Master of Ceremonies. Past Kinsmen and Kinettes from Barrie, Essex, Aylmer, Elmira and Hensall at- tended. Deputy Governor Guy Paelin and Alison; District Governor Mike Boyles and Marion; National Repress Larry Cherry and' Mary; Charter President Doug McKelvie and Doris, Lambert Bevers or 119 Elm Street London aged 70, drowned at Sturgeon Falls on Friday September 14th, 1979, The deceased came to this area with his wife and family from Holland and was employed at the farm of the late Stewart Bell and at- tended St. Boniface Catholic Church, Zurich. He is sur- vived by his wife Alberta (Vanderheyden) Bevers a daughter Mrs. Bert (Ellie) Essex attended. The Deputy Governor installed the Kin- smen and Kinettes officers for the coming year. During Vanlammeren, and a son Bart Bevers, London and grandchildren Lisa and Brian. Predeceased by a sister Adriana January 1979, Funeral service was from Holy Cross Church London, Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. Interment St. Peter's Cemetery. The President Bertha MacGregor presided and welcomed everyone and introduced Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Blackwell who joined the group. A moment of silence was observed in memory of the late Mrs. Jessie McAllister after which the president gave a poem entitled "The Tale of a Twilight Bell". The Treasurer Mrs. Bert Horton gave her report and also reported Mrs. Sarah Simp- son and Mrs. Jessie Arm- strong audited the books. The roll call was answered by the payment of dues. Cards of Thanks were read. Mr. Alf. Ross spoke on behalf of the shuffle-board for Mrs. A. Shirray who was unable to attend and a vote of thanks was extended to Mrs. Shirray for the effort and time she spent for the committee in arranging activities. The president thanked Mrs. Ruby Bell and Mrs. E. Davis for the work and time they spent on the bus trip to Ottawa. A report of the 21st annual convention which was held in Kingston was given by Mrs. Ruby Bell, delegate and Mrs. Bertha MacGregor, delegate. They thanked the mem- bers for sending them to attend this convention and gave highlights of the sessions and reported a most enjoyable trip and en- tertainment. Over seven hundred at- tended the banquet at which the Hon. Miss Flora Mac- Donald, Minister of External Affairs was the guest speaker. A donation was voted to the "Boat's People and the Woodstock people", Mrs. E. Davis spoke on behalf of relatives with residents in the Queensway nursing home asking if the group would be interested in sponsoring "Candy Stripers" for the home. The matter was held over for a later discussion. Mrs. Pearl Koehler was re-appointed "Card Convener". Mrs. Ruby Bell and Mrs. Elizabeth Riley were in charge of progressive euchre which followed. Prize winners were: ladies'high, Mrs. Ruby Bell. gent's high, Stewart Blackwell, Ladies' Lone Hands Mrs. Annie Reid. Person who came farthest: Mrs. Stewart Blackwell. Ninth year seal to Mary Drysdale and tenth year seal to Glen Slade. The service, which was conducted by Rev. Stan Donald dwelt on Christian Education with the em- phasise on education in the home; the message was entitled, "The Christian Home" the whole making a very enjoyable service.
