Barbara Laing assumed her
duties recently as student
supply minister at Calvary
United Church in Dashwood
and Emmanuel United
Church in Zurich. A native of
Jamaica, Miss Laing is in her
final year of studies at Em-
manuel College in Toronto
and is a graduate of the
University of Western On-
tario with a BA in English

Zion Lutheran Ladies Aid
held their September
meeting at the home of Mrs.
Harry Hayter, Wednesday,
September 12, with Group 1
and Mrs. Ernest Koehler,
convener, in charge of
devotions and lunch. There
were 16 members present.
Pastor M. Mellecke based
his topic with the Life of
Hannah.
Mrs. Lorne Genttner,
president, presided for the
business. The altar Guild'
reported 11 visits for July, 15
for August, The new Guild is
Mrs. Gordon Kraft and Mrs.
Mayo Mellecke. Fourteen
cards were sent out. Group 2
will be in charge of the
Ladies Aid fowl supper in
October.
Donations were
acknowledged. Grace
Lutheran Church Ladies Aid,
Mitchell gave $500.00
towards the new Kitchen.
Ideas for raising money for
the kitchen were discussed
including a bazaar in the
future.

The United Church Women
of Calvary United. Church
held their meeting TueSday,
September 11 with the
Church in Society committee
in charge and Mrs, Mervyn
Tiernan chairlady.
F She welcomed the
members and guests and
extended a special welcome
to the new minister, Miss
Barbara Laing.
A hymn, "Mightly Army of
the Young" was sung. Mrs,
Gerald Mason led in prayer
followed by Mrs. Greta
Schade reading the scrip-
ture. Mrs. Syd Baker gave
an outline of the
Declaration of the Rights of
the child.
Musical selections were
given by Kim Kipfer and
Michelle Vandeworp and a
piano duet by Kim and Lynn
Gaiser.
Mrs. Tieman introduced
the guest speaker, Miss Faye
Blair, who is supervisor of
Huron Hope Nursery school
located in Dashwood. At the
present time they have seven
children ranging in age from
2-10 years. She showed slides
of the children involved in
their various exercises.
They have five volunteers
assisting but would ap-
preciate more. She was
thanked by Mrs. Baker and
presented a cheque for the
nursery school. President,
Mrs. Gordon Bender
presided for the business.
She reminded the ladies of
the invitation to Crediton
October 4 and the Regional
meeting October 9 at
Elimville.

and Mrs. Hugh Boyle and
boys following the Boyle-
Desjardine wedding were
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Arnott,
Toronto, Miss Patti Bergstom
and Lloyd Morrison, Ottawa,
Lawrence Williams and

Mrs. Bud Hall Sandusky,
Michigan.
