IRVIN RADER DASH WOOD The September meeting of Dashwood Women's Institute was held Sep- tember 4 with conveners Mrs. Harry Hoffman, Mrs. Louella Tieman, Mrs. Greta Schade and Mrs. Harvey Beierling in charge. It was planned to honor the Year of the Child. Fifty-five guests were present including the children who had par- ticipated in the playground and one of the leaders, Audrey Melick. She outlined the various activities the children engaged in and some had brought articles they had made. They also sang a song. Each child received a silver dollar from the Institute and were served cake and ice-cream. Kim Kipfer and Michelle Van- deworp also played their guitars and sang. Following dismissal of the children a business meeting was held. The Fall Rally will be held at Elimville October . Donations were made to the Erland Lee Home, Cystic Fibrosis, Brother Bob in India, Woodstock Disaster Fund and the Boat People, Several Institutes will be guests in October. Mrs. Eben Weigand will be the delegate to the London Area convention at St. Marys and Mrs. Harold Schroeder will make the craft to be sold. The fall project for the 4-H girls is Needlepoint and the leaders are Mrs. Ray Rader and Mrs. Earl Keller; Mrs. Delmar Miller and Sherrie Stade. The meeting closed with The Queen. See Threshers A number of people from Dashwood and area attended the Huron Pioneer Threshers' reunion at Blyth on the weekend. Dashwood- Seaforth band played Sunday afternoon. Elect secretary Joy The Youth of Zion Lutheran church met Sep- tember 2 with Doris Stephen opening the meeting with a prayer. The Bible study consisted of looking up verses to answer questions from Judith Mellecke. Gifts given or received were discussed and all God's gifts to us, Sandra Datars was elected secretary. The meaning of Joy was changed to Jesus, Others, You. Jonathan Mellecke closed the meeting with a prayer, Join the Brownies Any girls wanting to join the Brownies or Guides call Susan Bregman at 237-3551. Brownies are from 6-9 years of age and Guides from 9-12. Seniors to meet Senior Citizens will meet September 17 at 8 p.m. Personals Sunday guests with Mr. & Mrs. Lloyd Rader were Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Rader, Stratford; Mr. and Mrs. Garnet Weiberg, Waterloo; and Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Gamble, London. Barbara Guenther who was attending Westervelt School in London spent the week-end with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Guen- ther. CLAN DEBOYE The United Church Women held their meeting Tuesday night at the home of Mrs, Wilmer Scott. A short program on Human Rights was taken by Mrs. Chas Coughlin, President, In the business, ways of helping the boat people, planning a bridal shower for Maria Richards and other items of business that sur- faced since their last meeting in June, were discussed. The hostess served lunch and a social time, enjoyed, Mrs. Harold Hardy, president of Clandeboye Women's Institute, ac- companied by Mrs. Chas Coughlin attended the Ladies Luncheon Monday as guests of the Western Fair Association. Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Hettrick and Mrs. Agnes Hornell returned to their home in Kirkland Lake on Sunday after spending the past three weeks in Clan- deboye. Mr. and Mrs. Doug Hind- marsh of Grayslake, Illinois returned home on the weekend after spending the past 10 days with Mr. and Mrs. George Hindmarsh and family and with Alex Macdonald of Ailsa Craig, Mrs. Huffman of Water- down is spending this week with her daughter and son- in-law, Mary and Bob Latta. Mrs. Lois Frederiske, Andrew and Barb, were week-end visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Chas Coughlin. Students returning to school this fall are Glenn Cunningham to Western University in his third year and majoring in Sociology, Janis Kestle in her final year of Interior Decorating at Fanshawe College. Starting at Fanshawe is Marilyn Groenewegen in Medical Secretarial, Kim Cunningham in Executive Scretarial and Marie Cun- ningham in School of Design. Joanne Cunningham is attending Ross Academy in the Medical Assistant course. Mr. and Mrs. Arnold VanMarrewyk of South Holland were recent visitors with Mr, and Mrs, Pete Groenewegen and family.
