Cooper Memorial Shoot at the Kippen gun club, Sunday. The class A runnerup with a score of 119 was John Anderson, Bob Ironside with 68 out of 75 was the B winner followed by Bill Johnston at 67 and Bryan Beer was best in the C division with a score of 58. Winners of a lucky draw were John Hessels, Sonja Gunderson and Bryan Baker. At Monday's regular shoot Bob Ironside, Terry Baker, John Anderson and Burt DONNELLY'S Due to popular demand, The Death of the Donnellys, now running August 21 to September 1 at the Blyth Summer Festival, will be held over for one week only. There will be per- formances September 2 at 2 p.m., September 4, 5, 6, 7 at 8:30 p.m. and September 8 at 2 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. at the Blyth Memorial Hall. Tickets for these per- formances are available through the Blyth box office only (phone 523-9300 or 523- 4488). Tickets are $5.00 for adults, $4.00 for senior citizens and $3,00 for children under fourteen. The story of the Donnelly family is familiar to many in southwestern Ontario. Writer Ted Johns, whom audiences will remembaer for his performance in The School Show, has crafted a new version of the con- troversial legend, complete with fiddle music and fisticuffs. Patrons are advised to make their reservations well in advance of the date of their choice in order to avoid disappointment, Mahaffey were tied for first place with scores of 25. Alan Bell was next with 24, John Hessels and Bill Boussey recorded 23, Bryan Beer, Harrison Schoch and Lorne Passmore scored 22 and Grant McGregor, Jamie Caldwell, Dave Lovell and Bob Caldwell were all even at 21. Completing the scores were Dan Crerar and Roy Lamport 20, Bryan Baker and Jack Bell 18, Edwin Miller, Bob Baker and Ray Ingram 17 and Robert McGegor 16. SENIORS MEET The first meeting of the new season for the Exeter senior citizens will be held Wednesday, September 5. It will be in the form of a pot luck supper. Please note that this is a change from the regular meeting night of Tuesday. Barry Becker was the leading scorer for Crediton with three runs. Greg Prout led the Exeter batting attack with three hits. Getting two hits apiece were Jeff Fuller and Steve Horn. The opening game of the series was Won by Exeter by a score of 16-12 with Steve Pearce the winning pitcher. Getting key runs batted in hits for Exeter were Steve Horn, Bruce Shaw, Dave Woodward, Jim Romphf, Greg Prout and Pete Tuckey. Tim Robinson scored a first in breastroke and Sean Whiteford won a third in butterfly. Ken Boersma swam well, winning a fourth in breaststroke and a sixth in butterfly. John Mol picked up a fifth place ribbon in backcrawl and two sixth place ribbons in freestyle and breaststroke, Our girls team consisted of 14 terrific swimmers in- cluding Angela Cottrell, Liz Cottrell, Karen Wells, Kelly Whiteford, Sharon Boersma, Tena Brand, Lynn Stephens, Brenda Waldeck, Dianne Boersma, Jayne Hendrick, Joan Osgood, Chantelle Keller and Sandra Baarda. Tena Brand won three fourths in freestyle, breaststroke and butterfly. Lynn Stephens won a red ribbon in breaststroke. The Exeter relay teams did really well winning one first, three seconds, and a third. The 11 and 12 girls relay finished first. Members were Tena Brand, Lynn Stephens, Darlene McBride and Brenda Waldeck. The 11 and 12 boys swam a close race placing second. They were Tim Robinson, Ken Boersma, Sean Whiteford and John Wells. The 13 and 14 girls Joan Osgood, Dianne Boersma, Jayne Hendrick, Kelly AA AAAA% AAA The Exeter swim team competed in the finals this Saturday in Kincardine. Exeter finished in fourth place out of eight teams competing. Elmira was the overall winner with a score of 241 points followed very closely with St. Marys with a score of 238. Kincardine came third with 200 points and then Exeter with 128 points. The other teams competing were Goderich, Mt. Forest, Listowel, and Tara, The best swimmer of the day was Brenda Waldeck in the 11-12 years girls division. She won three first place ribbons in freestyle, back- crawl and freestyle. Our only boys on the team were nine strong swimmers. They were John Wells, Tim Robinson, Sean Whiteford, Ken Boersma, John Mol, Dave Josephson, Mike Berg, Bruce Berg and Jeff series against Wingham or Kincardine next week. Seven .runs in the first inning powered the Exeter club to a 16-11 win in Mon- day's deciding contest. Dave Shaw was the winning pit- cher for Exeter and Harold Borden took the loss for Crediton. Greg Prout and Dave Shaw drove in runs in the first inning as Exeter scored seven times and Pete Tuckey doubled to help score three runs in the fifth. Dave Woodward crossed the plate for Exeter in the sixth and Woodward, Prout and Dave Shaw counted the final three runs for their club in the eighth. Crediton evened the series with a 11-7 win Sunday. Andy Nedza was the winning pitcher for Crediton holding the Crediton club to eight hits. Jeff Fuller was the Exeter hurler. Livingstone and Lynn Stephens won a second in freestyle relay and a second in the medley relay, The 10 and under girls finished a close third. They were Kelly Whiteford, Chantelle Keller, Sandra Baarda and Sharron Boersma, It was a really good year for the swim team this year. They did exceptionally well considering other teams out numbered them in members. To top the summer the swim team is planning a party and barbecue Wed- nesday at the pool. Exeter, playing like an old fashioned field of 11, struck early with Paul Mellecke lining the ball in for Dale Kints to score. Mellecke then added a goal to his assist at three minutes before the half ended, after missed attempts by Brian Quinn, Geoff Prance, Jeff Kints and Shawn Moore, who were turned aside by Ailsa Craig defenders. Then it was Ailsa Craig's turn to start the pressure. But Exeter goalkeeper Tim Moore got solid support from defenders Chris Bierling. Jeff Mit- tleholtz , DennisCrawford and Mike Rankin in preserving the shut-out. Exeter Bullets will host Ilderton this Wednesday in the final game of the season. A combination of Exeter atoms (Bullets and Gunners) will then go to Ailsa Craig for play-offs on Saturday, September 15. With the Exeter Midgets baseball team's elimination of Crediton Monday night, all three hardball teams in town moved one step closer to the WOAA playoffs. The pee wees will face Seaforth in a best of three series this week, and the winner will face Crediton for the southern championship. The bantams will start their semi-final contest against Goderich on September 4 in Goderich. The next two games will be played in Exeter. The only team active this weekend was the Midgets in beating Crediton in two of three games. The third game, Exeter's home game, had to be played in Crediton on Monday because the Exeter diamond is not adequate for night play.
