Bride showered with
gifts at Thames Road
MR. AND MRS. RONALD AITKEN
Wendy Blackler and Ronald Aitken were united in marriage
at St. Paul's Anglican Church in Kirkton on June 29. Rev.
R.W. Birtch officiated. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Burns Blackler, St. Marys and Mr. and Mrs. Alex Aitken,
Holstein are parents of the groom. The maid of honour was
Jayne Blackler and Ruth Ann Woolford and Sherry Snider
were bridesmaids. The best man was Pierre Cohteauvert and
guests were ushered by Fred Anderson and David Blackler.
Jessica Blackler was flower girl, Mrs. Wilma Davis organist
and Mrs. Mary Blackler was soloist. After a wedding trip to
eastern Canada the couple has taken up residence in St.

MR. AND MRS. PERRY KNEE
Nina Lenora Underhill and Perry Lorne Knee exchanged
marriage vows at Trivitt Memorial Anglican Church, Exeter
on August 18. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Michael Underhill, Huron Park and Mr. and Mrs. Percy Knee
are parents of the groom. Marion Sherwood was maid of
honour and bridesmaids were Faye Whiting and Allison
Blommaert. The best man was Jim Parker and guests were
ushered by Terry Underhill and Wally Knee. Ringbearer was
Peter Gibson. After a honeymoon to Niagara Falls, the cou-
ple will reside in Huron Perk.

A community bridal
shower was held on Wed-
nesday evening for Miss
Janet Bray bride-elect of
September. About 100
ladies and girls attended, To
the strains of "To-day"
played by Brenda Ballan-
tyne Janet was escorted by
Carolyn Knight to a chair
underneath a prettily
decorated lawn umbrella.
Gladys Miller welcomed
everyone and hoped they
enjoyed the evening. Bar-
bara Ballantyne passed out
cards for recipes which each
one was to write and put it in
a recipe box for Janet.
Sharon Passmore gave a
humorous reading.
A game of musical rings
were played with Ferne
Stewart and Leone Cottle
being the winners. Two short
skits were given with Joyce
Cunnington, Melonie Miller
and Sharon Passmore taking
part. Rhoda Rohde read a
well worded address and
Wendy Ballantyne wheeled
in a wheelbarrow filled with
many useful and beautiful
gifts. After opening her gifts
Janet thanked everyone and
invited them to Open House
on Sunday, September 9. All
joined in singing "For She's
A Jolly Good Fellow." Cake,
ice cream and beverage
brought an enjoyable
evening to a close,

for supper and the U.C.W.

This was a 4H exchange as
Calvin had visited the Dull
family in Indiana earlier this
summer.

MR. AND MRS. LEO THOMAS GLAVIN
St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church was the scene of the
August 11 wedding of Leo Thomas Glavin and Margaret
Mary Franken. The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Emma
Franken, RR 2 Auburn and the late John Franken. The
groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J.A. Glavin, R R 2 Crediton.
Reverend Father Edward Dentinger officiated. Organist was
Miss Marie Amas and soloists were Cyril and Ann Boyle.
Maid of honour was Rosemary Foran and bridesmaids were
Glenda Wood and Cathy Beyersbergten. Groomsman was
Tom Dietrich and guests were ushered by John and Eddie
Franken. Following a wedding trip to Northern Ontario, Mr.
and Mrs Glavin took up residence at RR 1, Ueter.
