A community shower for
Miss Brenda Cook, whose
marriage to Gerald Lenders
takes place September 8 was
held in the United Church
basement Tuesday evening.
Miss Ruth Mardlin was in
charge of the arrangements,
assisted by Miss Dorothy
Garrett, Mrs. Sharon
Klymans, Mrs. Joan
McClary, Miss Fern Mardlin
and Miss Anne Garrett.
Following a welcome by
Miss Ruth Mardlin, Mrs.
Laverne Morley gave a
humorous reading entitled
"Weddings can be fun" then
the Herbert Sisters, Helen,
Betty anne, and Marion
entertained with two vocal
numbers, "Down by the
riverside" and "Love is
sweeter than wine".
The bride elect was then
led to a table laden with
many packages, assisting
Brenda to open her gifts
were her sister Dianne,
Cindy Harrigan and Julie
Hardwick, when everything
was finally opened and on
display Brenda thanked
everyone for all the lovely
gifts and invitedall present to
the trousseau tea, Sunday
September 2, then mingled
with the guests during lunch.

Douglas Willis, a lay
preacher from Mitchell, was
in charge of the morning
service Sunday at St.
Thomas Anglican Church, as
Rev. Mary Mills is not yet
well enough to return to her
pulpit.
Mr. Willis based his ser-
mon on the texts from the
2nd scripture lesson
Galations chapter 6 and the
15th chapter of John. "Bear
ye one another's burdens and
so fulfill the law of Christ"
"This is my commandment,
thay ye love one another, as I
have loved you."
Referring to the Boat
People, the preacher said,
there appears to be only one
in four people who want to
help these unfortunate souls
the Loneliness of the han-
dicapped and the aged were
burdens which we could help
to ease with our love.
Also in church relation-
ships, there is still room for
paryer and work in this area
whatever the denomination,
and to remenber that,we are
all serving the same Christ,

The twin congregations of
Trinity Anglican Church in
Lambeth and Christ
Anglican Church in
Delaware will welcome Rev.
Kenneth Anderson as their
new pastor Sept. 1, Huron
Bishop T. Ragg has an-
nounced.
Anderson succeeds Rev.
W.D. Townson, who tran-
sferred recently to Trinity
Church in St. Thomas, and
has spent the last two years
on a leave of absence as a
tutor and examiner at
Codrington College, Bar-
bados, as part of the Part-
ners In Mission exchange.
Born in Belfast, Northern
Ireland, he studied at the
University of Western
Ontario, University of
Windsor and Huron College,
and was ordained in 1973.
He served as assistant at
St. James' (Westminster) in
London for four years, three
of them as director of the
Huron church camp. He is
married to the former Mary
Louise Dixon and is the son
of the Rev, and Mrs. George
Anderson, Exeter.
Roy McCreight called a

by his daughter Mrs. Helen
Elliott, on. the piano. The
ladies had a sing-a-long.

residents •held mass on
Friday morning. Friday
afternoon, bingo was played
in the auditorium.
Frank Bissett and Mrs.
Elsie Henderson held choir
practice on Saturday
morning.
The theme of Rev.
Darrell's sermon Sunday
morning was "Friendship."
The choir sang "Take time to
be holy,"
All the women residents in
the home were invited to join
women's bed care. for their
barbecue on Tuesday. There
Were 57 women residents in
attendance. Because of cool
weather, the hamburgers
and hotdogs were served in
the auditorium.
The Dungannon Ladies
Institute entertained at the
August birthday party on
Wednesday afternoon. Mrs.
Harold Elliott started the
programme off by playing
the bagpipes. Mrs. Harold
Elliott's daughter, Helen
Elliott sang several solos.
Miss Beth McConnell gave
two readings.
