On Saturday, they'll host their pancake breakfast at the fire hall from 7.00 a.m. to 11.00. In addition, they're holding a yard sale. The locals didn't play congenial hosts at their golfing event at Ironwood. They entered two teams and took the top two spots in the Firefighters' Mutual Aid golf event. Second game was played last night in Kincardine and if the third is needed it will go back to the lakeside town on Thursday. The teams were tied as Exeter came to bat in the bottom of the seventh and after one was out, Jeff Pfaff stroked a single. Darren Vandergunst and John Giffin worked their way on with bases on balls to load the sacks. Steve Batten then tapped one back to the pitcher and Pfaff was tossed out at home for the second, but leaving the bases loaded. Ken Smith ,again tops golfers For the second consecutive week Ian Smith took top honors at mens• night at the Ironwood Golf Course. Smith had the low gross score of 38 in the A flight. Don Cowan had a 33 which gave him the best net score. In B flight Fred Mom- mersteeg had a 41 for low gross honoures while Peter McFalls netted a 34. Allan Keys was tops in C flight gross with a 46 while Brad Murray had the low net score of 32. Taking the low gross title in D flight was Chan Livingstone with a 53 while John Musser had the low net of 37. Steve Pearce took the juvenile division with 37, Fleischauer were two strokes back while Seaforth's entry had a 306'. Hensall took fifth with 317 and Zurich posted a 349. A meal followed the tournament and bountiful list of prizes awarded. Eagleson had 19 and John Morgan 14. Drag shooting saw Wayne Riddell and Bill Weber with 24; Paul Giles and Larry Mason 21; John Love, Tom Russell, 20; and John Morgan with a 17. Centennials nipped by G B A pair of quick goals overcame a Centennial lead to earn Grand Bend Colonials a 2-1 win over Exeter in Ausable district soccer at Canner's field, Sunday. Exeter led 1-0 on a goal by Dick Lord at 15 minutes of the second half. But at 21 minutes Dave Nolan evened for • the Bend, and four minutes later Kevin Sim- monds sent the visitors ahead with the winner. The win continues Grand Bend's unbeaten record in league play this season. Exeter's record is now four wins, four losses and three ties. The game gave a good number of spectators a view of 90 minutes of excellent soccer. There were few infractions, all minor, and the first of them wasn't called until the game was almost 10 minutes old. During the first half, too, Exeter and Grand Bend . missed on chances at leads. Exeter missing on three virtually certain goals early in the game. During the second, the clubs split their opportunities at possible goals just about evenly.
