Ailsa Craig playground hit with kids...and local moms Times-Advocate, August 8, 1979 Pogo 5 (Highesi Savings Account Rate Ever ! summer playground being operated at the Ailsa Craig ball park. The playground is a Young Canada Works Project, organized and funded by the Employment Development Branch of Employment and Immigration Canada, and supervised by Lorraine Stead of R,R. 5, London. For the past several years Lorraine Stead has been involved in summer playgrounds and has been project sponsor for the local playgrounds this year and last, "This year we're doing only threeareas as opposed to six last year," she outlined "and running them for two weeks rather than just one." This seemed to be a better schedule allowing the leaders to become better acquainted with the children and broaden the children's learning through field trips. The children's day begins at 10 a.m. and continues through to 3:30 p.m., and includes children from the age of 4 to 12 years. Activities include crafts, games, sports, films, creative drama, music and special events. Thursday, August 16 the entire group will visit Longwoods Con- servation Area and the theme of the day will centre around the Indian culture, Another day the older children will visit the London City Hall, enjoy their lunch in Victoria Park and have a tour of McDonalds restaurant, The younger children have a trip scheduled to Storybrook Gardens at another time. The children are super- vised by three leaders in addition to Lorraine, in- cluding Melinda Harmer of Parkhill, Joseph Lynch of Parkhill and Mary Gough of London Township. The playground had its first session in Mt. Brydges this summer before coming to Nairn the last two weeks in July, and finally to Ailsa VG VICTORIA AND GREY TRUST Since1844 Contact our office: 425 Main Street Exeter 235.0530 Member: Canada Deposit Insuranpe Corporation READY, AIM, FIRE I — and John Andrew Ross, all for a throw in a game Playground 'currently being Jason Noakes, Ross Mcuallum of Ailsa Craig, just wait their turn of Dodge Ball at the Summer held at the Ailsa Craig ball park.
