Champion fiddler, Willis
Desjardine, has won another
trophy to add to his ever
growing collection. He took
first prize in the 35 to 49 age
group and won the Bill
McColl trophy, last week-end
at Bobcaygeon, Willis wife,
Ella, entered the step
dancing competition and
won third prize.
Travelling to Bobcaygeon
with the Desjardine's were
Mrs. Marian Horner and son
Calvin. of Parkhill.
While there, they visited
Desjardine relatives, Mr,
Saturday morning the
Huronview choir held choir
practice. Sunday morning
they sang "I surrender all,"
at the church service.
The "Gong" show Monday
afternoon in the auditorium
started out with Day Care
performing "Seven little
girls sitting in the back
seat." Mr. Adam Wilson who
was the winning contestant,
played his fiddle. Then we
had a rather queer group of
doctors, and an unsuccessful
operation, scene.
Mrs. Donna Broadfoot
accompanied by an adorable
puppy played "How much is
that doggy in the window,"
on her accordion. Winning
the prize for the most
hilarious act was Mrs.
Josephine Cunningham as a
hula girl.
Mrs Ettie Hugill and Mrs.
Betty Bell sang a duet. We
were treated to a demon-
stration of "Twisting dan-
cing" by Ronnie and Michael
Ladd. Miss Wendy Kloss
played her ukelele and sang.
A rather non-professional
group of staff members put
on a two act play "Little
Red Riding Hood", to round

and Mrs. Mervyn Elliot, and
Mariano Pelford, of Fenelon
Falls.
Marian returned home
with the Desjardine's for
holidays.
Vincent reunion
The 28th annual "Vincent"
reunion was held at Dash-
wood Community park,
Sunday, with around 30 in
attendance.
Those from this area who
attended the "Vincent"
reunion, held Sunday af-
ternoon at Dashwood
Community centre were Mr.
and Mrs. Harvey Beierling
and Kevin, Mr. and Mrs.
off the program . Our
Director of nursing, Mrs. M.
Yeats, Mr. Mark Kennedy,
and Mrs. Dianne Elliott were
our gongers, and we would
like to thank them for their
participation.

Mrs. Robert Laing hosted
the Marion Ritchie Evening
Auxiliary meeting at her
home, Tuesday July 17 with
15 ladies present.
Mrs. Lorne Elliott presid-
ed and opened with a poem
on Sharing, a Hymn and
prayer. Mrs. Ivan Norris
had the devotions taking her
scripture reading from Acts
12 verses 11 to 17, Mrs.
Larry Gardener gave a
paper on "One Small
Stone".
During business the visit
to Ritz - Villa in the fall was
discussed and quilting. The
study book was on China.
Mrs. Eldon Allen took her
Harold Vincent, Lori,
Michael and Michelle, and
Mr. and Mrs. Earl Vincent.
A special prize was given to
Percy Vincent, from London,
who celebrated his 88th
birthday on July 25. Marge
Adams and Katie Vincent
had celebrated their bir-
thdays on July 24th, so the
group of picnickers sang
"Happy Birthday".
Each family brings a
game or sport activity, and
prizes.

Mrs. Carey read a chapter
from one of Harry J. Boyles
books on the Depression and
Sharing. Everyone enjoyed
a couple of contests on
waistlines and spoon
photography.

Forty, Staffa Women's
Institute members, their
husbands and friends attend-
ed and enjoyed the play,
"I'll be back for you before
Midnight", at the Blyth
Memorial Hall Friday even-
ing and later dined at the
Walton Inn. The evening was
arranged by Mrs. Russell
Worden and Mrs,Cameron
Vivian.

were, on a bus trip on Wed-
nesday sponsored by
Crediton Women's Institute.
They visited Farmers
Market in Kitchener, Coyles
Factory in Tillsonburg and
other interesting spots.
Thursday Mr. and Mrs.
Kooy visited with Mr. and
Mrs. Clayton Kooy at their
trailer at Prospect Hill
where they are on holidays.

their sister and brother-in-
law, Mr, and Mrs. Clayton
Scheifele in Kitchener.

Scotia who was visiting with
relatives in Exeter, and Mrs.
Greta Hodgins, London.
Sunday Service
"Secure in God's Love"
was the topic chosen by Mr.
, Paul Schott for his sermon in
the United Church Sunday
morning and he used
Romans chapter 8 verses 28
to 39 as the Biblical
background for his thoughts.
He told his listeners that
God's purpose involves each
one of us and we must not
grow complacent.
The children's story was
told by Mr. Schott and Mrs.
Ray Mills was the organist
for the service.
