Approve purchase of
land for town parking
Where to park and what to
park on were two topics
which came up at Exeter
council Monday.
After numerous months of
groundwork by council and
the Exeter business im-
provement area, council
gave first and second
readings to a bylaw which
approved the purchase and
improvement of lands for
parking' purposes from the
back of the G. and G.
Discount building to John
Street.
Total cost, of developing
the property for parking will
be $56,000 with the town to
recover $23,000 from the 13
property owners in the area,
Council withheld third and
final reading until a per-
centage • share for the
development cost among the

In response to a letter from
Ron Cottrell chairman of the
parking committee of the
business improvement area
Reeve Derry Boyle said the
Bank of Montreal has shown
a willingness to participate
in the improvement of
parking behind businesses
on the east side.
Boyle said the bank would
be willing to move the
garage which is located on
their property to the rear of
the bank.
Councillor Ted Wright
echoed Boyle's statements
and said the bank's property
division was quite willing to
co-operate.
In' another matter, Cottrell
asked if the town would be
interested in paving the lot at
