Lucan United Church, Mrs.
Barbara Bannerman and the
girls of her Sunday School
Class plus Penny Hodgins
from the Lucan Youth Group
led the congregation in a
contemporary service of
worship.
The prelude was played by
Penny on her 'guitar with
Barbara giving the Call to
Worship, Tam m y
McRoberts, the Prayer of
Approach, Sherry Froats
lead in the congregation in
the Affirmation of Faith and
Caroline Lankin reading as
the. Scripture, the first
chapter of Genesis.
Penny sang the familiar
"Joy is Like the Rain",
accompanying herself on the
guitar and all five of the
aforementioned sang "Ask,
and
s
shall be given", with
Penny singing the lead as an
offeratory anthem.
Tami told in her own
words, for the children the
creation story as they
listened attentively.
As the entire service
centred around "Creation"
Bicycles were involved in
two of the four accidents
investigated this week by
officers of the Lucan detach-
ment of the Ontario
Provincial Police.
Sunday a bicycle ridden by
Steve Carson, London was
struck by a vehicle driven by
Ronald Slaughter, also of
London , on Highway 4 in
London township.
Suffering minor injuries
were the bike rider and a
passenger in the car John

set damages at $250,
Monday on Highway 7,
east of Elginfield Joseph
Timmermans, R.R. 3, Lucan
suffered minor injuries when
Barb's message dealt with

taken from a youth resource
book "Balloons, Anchors and
Grappling Hooks" and were
very pertinent in today's
world.
Penny played her guitar as
congregation accompani-
ment for "They'll Know We
Are Christians By Our Love"
and "Kum-Ba-Ya", and Mrs,
David Park played the piano
for the balance of the hymns,
etc, Penny played and sang
as a postlude "I Am The
Resurrection and The Life."
The floral arrangements in
the sanctuary were from the
funeral of the late Arnold W.
Sovereign. The sympathy of
the congregation is ex-
tended.
Next Sunday, July 15 Jim
and Flora Robertson will be
in charge of the service and
the following Sunday
members of the U.C.W. will
conduct the service with
Mrs. Martin VanArenthals
bringing the message. Come
and worship with us.

Word ,has been received
here of the death of Sproule
Currie of Carrying Place. He
was a former Dashwood
resident who came here in
1941 and operated the Dash-
wood Creamery for 20 years.
Graduates
Roy Slezak, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Stan Slezak, London,
graduated from Sir
Frederick Banting Secon-
dary School and was named
an Ontario scholar. He
received the Alexander
Charles Spencer Scholarship
of $1000, and will continue his
studies at the University of
Western Ontario this fall.
Roy is a nephew of Mrs. Jean
Wainer.

picnic, Sunday at Riverview
Park, Exeter. About 65 sat
down to dinner.
