Nursery schoolers visit GB zoo

Twenty-one pre-schoolers
and 10-moms took advantage
of a chance to visit the Grand
Bend zoo last week, when the
group rounded out their
school year with the neigh-
borhood nursery. Any
members wishing to pay up
their Nursery School fees
should contact Marie
Jaques.
Swimming lessons started
this week at the Huron Park
pool under the supervision of
Wendy Beaver, Leslie
Campbell and Jan Mac-
Donald, First session runs
through to July 20th, session
two- July 23rd to August 10th
and session three - August
13th to August 31st, There
are still lots of openings for
swim lessons in all three
sessions, so come on down or
call the pool at 228-6331 and a
pool supervisor will sign you
up.
S.P,A.R.K. summer
playground started Tuesday
for Huron Park and area for
youth aged 4 to 12 at the
McCurdy school. Anyone
interested in registering
your youngsters for
S.P.A,R,K, can do so by
going down to the school and
signing up with one of the
leaders. S.P.A.R.K. runs for
seven weeks until August 17
and costs $7 per child, $12 for
two in a family or $15 for
three in a family. S.P.A,R.K.

Dashwood playground gets
under way on Monday, July 9
and runs to August 17. Their
program costs $6 per child,
$10 for two in a family and
$12 for three in a family. Any
youngster wishing to sign up
for Dashwood can do so on
Monday July 9 when
playground opens at 9:30
a.m. at the Dashwood
Community Pavilion,
Huron Park pee-wee girls
were at home to host Hibbert
last night, (Wednesday).
Juvenile girls will host the
Exeter girls to-night
(Thursday) at 9 p.m, Come
on down and cheer the girls
on. They appreciate your
support.

exercises and adult learn-to-

The Optimists of Stephen
are holding a pork barbecue
and dance on Friday, July 20
at the Huron Park recreation
centre, Barbecue 4:30 to 6:30
p.m. and a dance from 9 p.m.
to 1 a.m. with continuous
music supplied by "Maple
Sugar" and "Kapella".

MR. AND MRS. ROBERT LAYE
At an outdoor ceremony at the bride's family home,
Catherine Gaynor Read and Robert Paul Laye exchanged
wedding vows on June 16, 1979. The bride is the daughter of
Dr. R. Wallace Read and the late Beverly Read, Exeter, Mr.
and Mrs. Robert Laye of St. Thomas are parents of the
groom. The maid of honour was Patricia Faber and
bridesmaids were Ronna Laye and Trish McKenna. The best
man was Chris Plaunt and guests were ushered by Bob Read

audience at Friday's opening
play of the season at the
Blyth Summer Festival,
This Foreign Land was the
opening presentation and
humorously depicted the
joys and frustrations of three
immigrant families coming
to Canada in 1951 and con-
tinuing through to 1978.
Featured was the ver-
satility of the seven actors
and actresses who each
played a number of different
parts.
The play opens with scenes
in Europe when govern-

through to their settling in
Huron County,
Fridays' performance was
marred somewhat when
actress Seava McKenna'was
injured in a fall at the end of
the first act after the lights
dimmed.
She suffered cuts
necessitating six stitches.
The balance of the cast
completed the second act
with slight variations, but
Saturdays' show was can-
celled.
ELECTRONICS GRAD —
James D. Brintnell, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Russ Brintnell, RR 3,
Granton, Ont. graduated
recently from Fanshawe
College, London with a
diploma in Control Systems
Technology. While attending
college Jim attained the
I.B.M. Technology Bursary,
and is a graduate of
Medway Secondary School.
He has accepted a position
with I.B.M. London as a
Customer Engineer.

and Mrs. Jim Glover, Exeter, are parents of the groom. Mrs.
Julie Parker was matron of honor and the bridesmaids were
Mrs. Kathie Glover, Mrs. Gail Gies and Mrs. Helen Grumme.
Barry Glover acted as his brother's best man and Peter
Glover, Don McCallum and Mike Cushman ushered the

Lorie Diana Catherine Campbell and Kevin Ross Faber ex-
changed marriage vows March 30 in Blyth United Church.
Rev. Cecil Wittich officiated. the bride is the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. William L. Campbell and the groom is the son of Mr.
and Mrs. Ross Faber, Kippen. The maid of honour was Becky
McCabe and Suzanne Campbell was junior bridesmaid. The
flower girl was Lisa Faber and Michael Paivetch was ring
bearer. The best man was Tony Arts and Randy Campbell
was groomsman. Guests were ushered by Bev Coolman and
John Blanchard. The couple travelled to Niagara Falls and
