PAGE 2. THE CITIZEN, THURSDAY, DECEMBER 20, 2007.
The snow seems to make
Christmas just so much better. All the
words of this season’s songs that
we’re hearing about family and
gatherings and hope, peace, love and
joy are made even better by the
blanket of white that is ours for the
holidays. Yes!
Family gatherings and work parties
have kept the social calendars busy
the past few weekends with lots of
different ways to celebrate the many
blessings that are ours. Food and fun
is always high on the list and the
planners often come up with new
ways to celebrate for their group.
Skating and tobogganing, cards
and music, food and dancing, theatre
and go-carts, games and visiting have
all proved to be popular ways to
celebrate the season. I hope you
enjoyed your parties.
The Scott Woods concert was a
success for the Presbyterians on
Saturday night. Good weather, well
attended and lots of Christmas music
made the organizers very happy.
In case your calendar is free on the
weekend – feel free to pop over to the
BMG Community Centre and
support the Optimist Club’s pub
night. The Optimists are setting the
tone and mood of a pub and for $5
you can enjoy good company, hockey
on the big screen and music. It
sounds like a nice way to relax and
enjoy good company.
We’re talking new year for the next
column so as we savour every minute
left of 2007 – count your blessings.
Some days that’s not easy but in this
time of celebration of life and love
and family, list the good things. Love
of family and friends, shelter from
the weather, clean, disease-free water
to drink, food that is available and by
world standards cheap – we are
blessed.
As the list lengthens our troubles
decrease.
The best part of Christmas is the
obvious sharing that occurs – time
available to visit, sharing Christmas
cake or a few cookies, significant
donations to the Food Bank and gifts
of hope are only a few of the ways
that our love for each other is shown.
Keep in mind that it is the gift of
love that makes this season, not the
dollars spent. Enjoy the time and feel
the hope for tomorrow as shown in
the peace, joy and love that surrounds
each of us.
Merry Christmas to all from Betty
G.W. and Ralph.
