On Tuesday the fed steers and heifers sold on a good active trade with fancy types selling $1 higher. Choice steers and heifers sold $81 to $85 with sales to $94.50. Second cut sold $77 to $80. Cows sold on a steady trade. On Thursday veal sold $1 to $2 higher on a strong active trade. Lambs sold on a strong active trade. Sheep sold steady and goats sold on a very strong market. On Friday calves and yearlings sold on a steady trade. There were 227 steers on offer. Celebrating its 28th year, Canada’s Outstanding Young Farmers’ program is an annual competition to recognize farmers that exemplify excellence in their profession and promote the tremendous contribution of agriculture, and rural Canada. Demonstrating leadership in the agricultural industry, nominees are judged according to the following criteria: progress made in their agriculture career, environmental and safety practices, crop and livestock production history, financial and management practices and contributions to the well-being of their community, province, nation.
