The Citizen, 2007-12-13, Page 7For Kelly Stevenson of BlythChristmas greetings are a work ofart.
A Grade 12 student at Central
Huron Secondary School in Clinton,
who hopes to study fine art,
Stevenson puts her artistic talents to
good use, designing and creating
greeting cards for every occasion,
including the festive season.
Inspiration came from her mother,
she says. “She wanted me to do
some cards so she could send them
to people. Then I just got bored and
kept making them.”
The cards are a nice fit for
someone who loves to ‘doodle’.
“They’re easier to carry than
sketchbooks.”
Using markers, Stevenson creates
whimsical and colourful images on
card stock paper. Her designs are
original. “I draw what’s in my
head.”
People can purchase an original,
which take over an hour to complete
for $3. She then scans these into the
computer so reproductions are
available at a lesser cost.
Multiple orders can be of a variety
of designs with up to five of each
design.
Stevenson said she likes to consult
personally with potential clients
so that she can guarantee
she delivers exactly what they’re
looking for. She recommends
that people contact her well ahead of
when they need the cards so she is
sure to have enough time for
discussions and to complete theartwork. The cards can be ordered with verses or blank. For information contact Stevensonat 519-523-4910.THE CITIZEN, THURSDAY, DECEMBER 13, 2007. PAGE 7.Greeting cards a work of art for local teen
North Huron council decided
Monday night to stick to their
original decision regarding the
hiring of a meeting investigator.
The hope had been that the county
would also hire the services of John
Maddox, which would lower the
cost for North Huron. The county,
however, voted against this, meaning
that if an investigation is required it
will be conducted by the Ontario
Ombudsman.
Reeve Neil Vincent said he had
spoken with some at the county level
who wished they had more
information before they made the
decision. “The amount of paper
work that will be put on staff... It
would have been a small price to pay
to have people doing the
investigation who understand that
type of audit,” said Vincent.
Council voted unanimously to stay
with their original decision.
