people seeing materials advertising
our community.”
McClinchey had also spoken with
North Huron’s director of finance
treasurer, he said. “She said thiscould potentially be do-able. It’s notoutside the realm. This represents an investment, not just anexpenditure.”Director of recreation/facilities Pat Newson questioned the women
on whether or not there had been
any consideration to marketing
Memorial Hall’s rental poten-
tial.
Sholdice said that that has been afocus of hers, to see the Hall betterutilized in the Festival’s off season.“I think that by having our name out to a broader area, it has great potential for increasedinterest.”
While councillor Murray Nesbitt
also expressed enthusiasm, calling
it a great idea. he did wonder if
it would benefit all of North
Huron. Stewart said in marketing, theadvice is to “take a jewel and buildaround it.”Clerk-administrator Kriss Snellsaid he too had had that concern, buthe believes that good marketing will
see people coming to Wingham from
Blyth.
“We have talked about throwing a
wider net,” added councillor Archie
MacGowan, “and I know we
couldn’t do it for $20,000 a year. I
think this is an interesting
opportunity.”

McClinchey – ‘Festival not looking for gift’
Letter to the editor
THE EDITOR,
Some 35 years ago I built a sealed
manure tank with the intention of
producing methane gas for heating
the barn.
My information on producing
methane came from India where
farmers built sealed manure pits and
used the resulting methane gas for
cooking.
This was much healthier for the
cook and the residue from the
process could still be used as
fertilizer.
Alas, it cost much more than I had
anticipated and I had to abandon my
efforts.
I am therefore pleased that now,
according to a recent editorial that
methane production has come of age.
Adrian Vos.
