They played the host team Elma Logan on Friday night and came away with a 5-2 victory. Scoring for Blyth were Cody Treble and Brenden Howson with two goals apiece and Dawson Coultes. Assists went to Chad Treble with three, Owen Andrews, Jacob Coultes and Colton Rodger. In the second game the kids were out skated by the Thamesford and lost 7-3 . Cody Treble, Brenden and Morgan Howson completed the scoring, Chad Treble, Rodger and Coultes picked up assists. With their backs against the wall a win was needed against Plattsville to move to the finals Sunday against Thamesford. A solid effort was put forth by all 14 players who came away with a 7-3 victory. Blyth goalscorers were Cody Treble with a hattrick, Coultes and Chad Treble with two each. Assists went to B. Howson with three, Rodger and Coultes. In the next match the kids played to their potential yet again, winning 5-2 to bring home the championship trophy. Chad Treble led the scoring with three goals, and singles went to B. Howson and Cody Treble. Single assists went to Chad Treble, B. Howson, Rodger, Andrews, and Coultes. The defence core of Samantha Kerr, Jeff Gordon, Gavin Workman, Craig Raynard, Jeremy Wilts and Jacob Coultes played strong defensively stopping the opposition from scoring on Franklin Marshall who was solid between the pipes. First year player Cameron Gauthier skated up and down the wing helping his line- mates in both ends of the rink. Saturday the Novices travel to Zurich for a 3 p.m. start. Novices win tourney After starting the season with two victories the Blyth Atom girls have lost three in a row. The girls played a very solid defensive game against the visiting Sailorettes from Goderich on Nov. 17. The final score was 4-0 for Goderich and was a good result against a very strong team. On Nov. 25 the team made the trip to Mount Forest. The Mount Forest team exacted its revenge for Blyth's earlier win and beat the Ice Dogs by a 4-1 score. On Saturday Dec. 1, the team hosted an exhibition game against an undefeated Seaforth team. The girls held it close going into the third period only down 4-2. The final score was 6-2 for Seaforth. The girls played well against some tough competition and are playing well, coaches said. The game against Seaforth took place Saturday in Blyth and saw the hosts fall 6-2. The game provided lots of action with Palmerston getting the better shots around the Blyth goal. Amy Root did well keeping the net clear for Blyth. The Black Ice broke onto the scoreboard first when Kelly MacDonald got the ball up to Coreena Otten. Otten broke in from centre ice and beat the Palmerston goalie. Palmerston turned it up a notch and put intense pressure on the Blyth defenders. Blyth dug in the heels and with a bit of luck held off the Palmerston attackers. Black Ice won 1-0.
