HomeMy WebLinkAboutThe Citizen, 2007-11-22, Page 2Well the next season is upon us.No winter is not here and autumnstill has a few good days left. Butthis season just slips subtly into ourlives. By the middle of November we’rehearing very large hints thatChristmas is approaching quicklyand before you know it we’vebought into the frenzy. The TV advertising takes on a new urgency. The target groups are apparent and the music makes yousit up and pay attention. Darn, it’sNovember. The cities have had Santa to visitalready. Area bazaars are all readyfor your attendance and hope thatsome of their treasures will be partof your preparations for theupcoming season. The St. Ambrose congregation would love to see you on Saturday and the St. John group thank you for you support and attendance last week. When we look at the big picture the more we support local groups and products, everyone wins. With less pollution from travel, the cumulative effect of the dollars spent and the spin off, we all win. If someone is special enough to warrant a gift, they should have one that is also special and not one of thousands made. Check out our area and be kind to the world and yourself with less time and travel shopping. Our business group is encouraging you to buy locally and to make it even more inviting they are having weekly draws for some pretty fine prizes. Tickets are given with your purchases from the stores in the village and the winners will be notified of their good luck. So beforeyou think the farther away the storeis the better the deal, check it out. You’ll be happy and so will others. Santa is coming to Brussels onDec. 1, ready to parade with all hisfriends at 5 p.m. He wasn’t able toget to our Homecoming in July andheard what a good party he missed,so the parade committee of course were in favour of his suggestion and are having his version — Home for the Holidays. So dig out your holiday duds and get ready for the festive season by joining the parade. It starts at the BMG Community Centre and Santa will be happy to see you back there later. Get ready for Advent. In your own way of course. The season for waiting is near. Enjoy these November days. Bye now, Betty GW PAGE 2. THE CITIZEN, THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 22, 2007.
