The Citizen
By Sophie Jefferson
The fifth meeting of Wawanosh’s
Christmas Craft was held on Nov. 5
in the home of June Robinson.
Jeanette Schramm opened the
meeting with the pledge, then led
roll call. The members said who
they would invite to a Christmas
party that the club will hold. Many
of the members said they would like
to invite 4-H members from
previous clubs, their friends, family
and Santa Claus.
Mary Ellen Foran encouraged all
the members to attend awards day
on Nov. 18, and filled them in on the
club’s own achievement, which will
be assisting Community Living in
Goderich with their Christmas
wreath making fundraiser.
June Robinson helped the
members make sure that their recipe
books were in order.
Sydney McIlhargey read about
casual entertaining, and explained
the differences between having an
open house event and a more formal
sit down dinner. The members
discussed the advantages of each.
Maisy Jefferson read about
inviting people to social events.
Reba Jefferson had made some
invitations and the members judged
them.
The members saw some examples
of centrepieces and talked about
which ones they liked best and what
they would use. Mary Ellen shared
methods of air freshening before
and after parties to get rid of any
unwanted smells.
The junior leaders, Sophie and
Ellen Jefferson brought some
excitement to the meeting with a
trivia game. The members split into
teams and faced off against each
other. The game went into overtime.
When Sophie and Ellen were out of
trivia questions the teams went head
to head for a round of Don’t Forget
the Lyrics, with Christmas songs of
course.
The Intelligent Elves, consisting
of Jeanette Schramm, Maisy
Jefferson and Sydney McIlhargey
took home the honours, leaving the
Elfish Nerds in the dust.
Jeanette Schramm brought
patriotic jello salad and Maisy
Jefferson had made mojo squares to
share.
