Nicely done St. Anne’s Catholic Secondary School’s Midget boys cross-country team captured the OFSAA bronze medal at Fireman’s Park, Niagara Falls, Nov. 3. The placers were Pat Hartman, 26th; Stephen Lambert, 68th: Simon Fernandes 76th and Matt Steele, 81st. Craig Thompson was St. Anne’s displacer, 88th. St. Anne’s was the first team to get all five runners in. (Only the best four count though). There were 36 teams, 273 runners representing 700 plus schools in Ontario. Coaches are Annette and Baird Robinson. (Photo submitted) On Sunday, Nov. 4 the Blyth Tyke Senior Bulldogs travelled to Seaforth. The Blyth team fell behind by one early in the game, but continued to work and scored to tie it. Carson Richmond scored with assists going to Nick Aitken and Jared Shearer. Seaforth ended up scoring two more goals to beat Blyth 3-1. Mason Campbell provided solid goaltending for the Blyth team turning aside a couple Seaforth breakaways. The Blyth team played very well and continued their strong work ethic. Coach Andrew Wharton said “We had many good scoring chances late in the game and hopefully we can carry that on to our next game.” Senior Tykes play Seaforth away The Blyth Novices split weekend games. They first lost 10-2 to Goderich. Scoring for Blyth were Cody Treble and Brenden Howson. Sunday the team put out a solid effort beating Minto 6-0. Chad Treble scored two goals with singles going to Gavin Workman, Dawson Coultes, Colton Rodger and Howson. Assists went to Coultes and Cody Treble with two apiece. Chad Treble and Howson. This coming weekend the Bulldogs travel to Monkton on Saturday and Wingham is in town Sunday. Big game The Blyth PeeWee girls team was on the ice last Saturday, playing host to Saugeen Shores. The locals romped the visitors by a final score of 11-0 in this Saturday afternoon game. (Shawn Loughlin photo) The Saugeen Maitland PeeWee Ateam played a home-and-away serieswith Kitchener this weekend. Saturday they played in Kitchener and won the game with a score of 1- 0. The goal scored by Sydney Smith of Port Elgin, and the shutout went to Shelby Arsenault of Shallow Lake. Sunday, Kitchener came to Howick where the Lightning won by a score of 5-0. Goals were scored by Shelsie Popp of Auburn, HannahDavidson of Kincardine, BeckyWaring of Owen Sound with two and Kate-Lyn Skinner of Amberley. Assists went to Vanessa Armstrong of Gorrie with two, Nicole Marriage of Clinton, Miranda Lantz of Mildmay, Becky Bults of Alma, Smith and Popp. The Lightning travels to Waterloo for their next game, Nov. 10. The Brussels Atoms have had a very successful two weeks of hockey action. They played Elma Logan, taking a 4-0 win, Blyth for a 7-0 win, and Clinton for a 7-2 win. Scoring for Brussels were Hayden TenPas, Mitch Kellington, Lexi Smith, Tim Waechter, and Nic Zwep. Assisting were Waechter, Smith, Kellington, Ben Hruska, and Dawson Peachey.
