THE CITIZEN, THURSDAY, OCTOBER 18, 2007.LINDA VANCE ALMEIDANow at peace after a lengthystruggle with cancer, Linda Almeidapassed away on Oct. 7, 2007 at Alexandra Marine and General Hospital, Goderich. She was 49. Linda was an employee of the Signal-Star for 30 years. She was the beloved wife of Delfim “Del” Almeida and is the loving daughter of Joy Wilkins and the late Whitford Vance. She was the dear sister and sister-in-law of Helen (Jim) Vanstone, Shirley (Don) MacAdam, Betty (Don) Hexamer, John (Leanne) Vance, Jim (Cathy) Vance, Kate Vance, Barb Vance, Sheila (John) Donatis, Tom (Jana) Vance and sister-in-law of Albertina (Alfredo) Rodrigues. Linda also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and friends whom she adored. At her request cremation has taken place, however, a celebration of Linda’s life will be held at the Goderich Legion from 1 - 5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 20 where the family will be present to share memories. Donations to Alexandra Marine and General Hospital Foundation – CT Fund or the charity of one’s choice would be gratefully acknowledged. Friends may sign the book of condolences at www.mccallumpalla.ca MILDRED EDNA TAYLOR Mrs. Mildred Taylor of Wingham, passed away at her residence on Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2007. She was 87. The former Mildred Thornton was the beloved wife of the late Murray Taylor who predeceased her in 1998.She was the dear mother of Ruth andJohn Haines of RR5, Wingham andDoug and Louise Taylor of Scotland, Ontario. She was the loving grandmother of Bradley, Brittany and William Haines. Mildred was the sister-in-law of Vera Miller of London, Maxine Taylor of Wingham, Donald and Marlene Taylor of St. Helens and Doris Walker of Wingham. Visitation was at the McBurney Funeral Home, Wingham on Thursday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. Order of Eastern Star service was held in the funeral home on Thursday at 7 p.m. The funeral service was held at the funeral home chapel on Friday at 2 p.m. Rev. Wayne B. Beamer officiated. Interment was in Wingham Cemetery. Memorial donations to Wingham United Church or Wingham and District Hospital Foundation would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy. On-line condolences may be made at www.mcburneyfuneralhome.com KENNETH GALBRAITH Kenneth Galbraith of Hanover and formerly of Wroxeter passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2007 at Hanover & District Hospital. Born in Howick Twp. on March 7, 1920, Ken was in his 88th year. Ken was the beloved husband of the late Margaret (Brown) Galbraith. He was the dear father of Scott Galbraith and his wife Linda ofHanover, Jim Galbraith and his wifeCindy of Lucan, Clark Galbraithand his wife Sharon of Listowel and Keith Galbraith and his wife Carol of Whitechurch. Ken was the loved brother of Alma Watson of Brussels and Gene Watson of Wingham. He was the loving grandfather of Carleigh and Kevin, Shawn, Craig, Cameron, Brad and Colin and great- grandfather of Abrianna and Zachary. His sister Helen and his brother Ward predeceased him. Friends were received by the family from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Gorrie Visitation Centre of the Schimanski Family Funeral Home, with a Legion service following the visitation. The funeral service was conducted Friday, Oct. 12 at 2 p.m. from Wroxeter United Church, with friends being received by the family an hour before the service. Interment was in Wroxeter Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Howick Legion No. 307 RCL or the Alzheimer Society. WILBUR TREMEER Wilber Curtis Tremeer passed away Oct. 7, 2007 at Huronlea Home for the Aged, Brussels. He was in his 95th year. Born Feb. 14, 1913 Mr. Tremeer was the beloved son of the late John A. and Mary Ella (Pybus) Tremeer passed away at Huronlea Home forthe Aged, Brussels. He was in his95th year. He was the dear brother ofthe late John Wilfred, Allin, Wilson, Gladys Furlong, Vera Jackson, Mary Martin, Grace Pepper and Laura Whitehouse. He is survived by several nieces and nephews. There was no funeral home visitation. A private family graveside service was held at Maitlandbank Cemetery, Seaforth on Thursday, Oct. 11. Pastor Stephen Hildebrand officiated. Condolences may be made at www.whitneyribeyfuneralhome.com MARGARET JEAN (MCNEIL) PETERSON With great sadness, the family announces the passing of Margaret Jean Peterson, formerly of East Wawanosh Twp., on Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2007 at the Parkwood Hospital Palliative Care Unit, London, ON. She was 71. She will be deeply missed by her husband of 51 years, Harry Roy and her children Eric (Kathy) of Cambridge, Cheryl (Doug) Burgess of London, Kim of London, Jim (Cindy) of Thamesford and Glenn (Caroline) of London. She was the dear grandmother of Shanna, Bradley, Steven, Travis, Stephanie, Malcolm and Anna. She will also be mourned by her sister Elizabeth (Robert) Johnston of Kincardine, brother Crawford McNeil of Kentbridge and sister-in-law Jean Campbell of Strathroy, as well as her aunt Mary Martin of Wingham and many nieces, nephews, cousins andfriends. She was predeceased by her sisterShirley McNeil (2006), mother Laura McNeil (Martin) (1994) and her father Malcolm McNeil (1977). Marg worked at Victoria Hospital for 22 years and upon retirement enjoyed travel with her friend Irene. She was an active member of the United Church Women, the London Christian Women’s Club and was a member of Fairmont United Church. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Saturday Oct. 20, at 11 a.m. at Fairmont United Church, 29 Tweedsmuir Ave., London.
