The Citizen, 2007-10-04, Page 16PAGE 16. THE CITIZEN, THURSDAY, OCTOBER 4, 2007.The Happy Gang Seniors gatheredfor their first meeting of the new
year at the Londesborough
Community Hall for a noon potluck
meal on Wednesday, Sept. 26.
Presiding for the afternoon was new
president, Mary Peel.
Discussion took place regarding
the district fall rally being held in
Exeter on Thursday, Oct. 11.
Registration begins at 10 a.m.
Musical entertainment was
offered by Harry Lear and Barb and
John Jewitt. They sang a most
familiar tune, My Favourite Things
from the movie, Sound of Music,
accompanied by pianist Gail Lear.
However the words were changed as
befit a gathering of seniors.
They sang about false teeth,
hearing aids, glasses, pacemakers,
etc.
Janis Bisback gave a presentation
that afternoon on behalf of the
Huron Hospice Volunteer Service.
The office for this organization is in
the Seaforth Hospital at 519-527-
0655. This group assists palliativepatients and their families with the
realities of death. All of us want to
die with a degree of dignity and
peace and these volunteers are
trained to comfort families.
Experience has shown that a dying
person may feel more comfortable
discussing death with a comparative
stranger than with persons close to
them. Therefore this group fills an
important need for end of life.
Kids Care, a documentary by
Laura Sky, will be screened on
Wednesday, Oct. 3, tonight at 7
p.m., presented by the Huron
Hospice Volunteer Service. This
film addresses the issues and needs
of young people who have lost a
loved one to cancer.
Kids Care shows how kids can
help other kids by sharing stories,
thoughts and support. This event is
at the OMAFRA building in
Clinton.
The seniors next meeting will be
held on Oct. 31.

overall at the meet.
The 53 members of the team were

have too many books, etc. Thanks to
everyone who helped make this a
success.
