Many people attended a very impressive remembrance service at the Memorial Gardens at the east end of Drummond Street. The Memorial Gardens are growing every year and this was the sixth year for the service. Sympathy is extended to Candice and Bruce Howson and family on the death of Candice’s mother, Connie Foxton of Wingham who passed away on Sunday. Sympathy is extended to the Wasson families on the sudden death of a cousin, Shirley Storey who passed away as a result of an accident last week. We are sorry to hear that Harold Campbell is a patient in Clinton hospital. We are also sorry to hear that Doris Hicks is a patient in Clinton hospital. We wish them both a speedy recovery.We are glad to hear that Nan Goreis recovering at home afterundergoing knee surgery.Congratulations to Jeff andShanann Josling on their firstanniversary on Sept. 16.Happy birthday to Larry Badleywho celebrated his birthday in September. The seniors meeting is Wednesday, Sept. 26 in Memorial Hall at noon with a potluck lunch. Come out and enjoy the fellowship and fun. BLYTH UNITED CHURCH Greeting at Blyth United Church on Sunday, Sept. 16 was Mary Lou Stewart. Ushering were David Onn and Hope Button. Guest organist was Lynda McGregor. Guest speaker Tom Dunbar welcomed everyone to church with the Call to Worship repeated responsively. The first hymn Joyful, Joyful, We Adore You was followed by the Prayer of Confession, the Assurance of Pardon. The choir sang anthem In My Heart There Rings a Melody. The next hymn was He Came Singing Love. Mr. Dunbar told the children’s story and welcomed them back to Sunday school. The story was followed by The Lord’s Prayer. The children went downstairs for their time of fellowship. The scripture from Acts 9: 1-31 and Psalm 5 was led by Ollie Craig. The hymn As Those of Old was sung. Mr. Dunbar’s message to the adults was Welcoming Change. There will be no September UCW meeting. The Minute for Missions was read by Jessica Dunbar. Everyone was invited downstairs to join the Sunday school for lunch and to celebrate the birthdays for August and September. People were welcomed by Doug Scrimgeour, Greenway Trail committee chair. The service was led by Rev. Ernest Dow, while Bev Elliott, chair of the memory garden committee offered information on the garden. (Vicky Bremner photo) On Sept. 11 the Huron OPP arrested Christopher Anderson, 56, of Morris-Turnberry man in connection with the Sept. 9 sexual assault in Belgrave. The male was held at the Huron Detachment and was taken before the Goderich court on Sept. 12. He faced one count of breaking and entering and committing the indictable offence of sexual assault, one count of assault with a weapon, one count of forcible confinement and one count of administering a noxious substance. He was remanded in custody until Sept. 17. The OPP would like to express appreciation to the public for their assistance with the investigation. Our fall mums are blooming.
