THE CITIZEN, THURSDAY, AUGUST 30, 2007. PAGE 33.With a new look camediversification for Dauphin Feed andSupply Ltd. in Walton.
When it became evident that the
old feed mill at the front of the
building was not worth repairing, a
decision was made to take it down
and rebuild it as a retail facility.
“We didn’t necessarily know at
that time what we were going to sell,
but we knew what we wanted it to
look like.”
As the quaint country structure
began to take shape its use became
evident. “Pretty much as we werebuilding it we realized we wanted tomake it a store for the community.”Dauphin’s Country Store openedfor business this month, offering awide range of items from work
aparrel to grocery and snack items.
They also sell West Grey Premium
beef, out of Durham, carrying a
complete line of choice cuts, that
includes strip loin steaks and boxed
burger patties.
Fresh coffee, from Van Houtte is
available as well, while on Fridays
there is homemade baking and
preserves for sale.
The company still operates its feed
business out of the warehouse in theback of the store. Dauphin’s Country Store ismanaged by Ann Bosman ofWinthrop, former owner of theBrussels Variety. The rest of the
employees are all residents of
Walton.
The business is open seven days a
week, 6:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday to
Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on
Sundays.
Dauphin said that as the store is
still in its infancy, they are still open
to suggestion. “If you want
something, let us know and we’ll try
to get it.”

for the flashing lights on the buses
and be prepared to stop.
I’m looking forward to seeing “my
kids” on the bus and how much
they’ve grown or matured over the
summer.
The faces of the little ones, not
quite sure if they want to get on the
bus; the faces of those thinking “not
her again” and the smiling faces of
those who are glad to see my
familiar face.
They are all pretty good kids and
I’m sure we’ll have a good year on
the bus.
