Alzheimer’s disease:
Signs to look
out for
A little housecleaning is in order
for Blyth Lions Park.
At the July 16 meeting of North
Huron council it was noted that
while the township does own the
park, staff does not supervise
it.
Councillor Greg McClinchey said
this had come to his attention with
the work done on the municipal
alcohol policy and he wondered
if there could be a liability
concern.
“I think we need to sit down with
Lions representatives and straighten
the ownership up.”
Councillor Murray Nesbitt,
however, wondered if the discussion
was necessary.
“I get tired of hear-ing the word
liability. If I had to watch for a
liability concern all the time I
wouln’t have someone in for a beer.”
McClinchey assured that he
wasn’t talking about changing the
way things were done, or regulating
it. “I think we need to clarify it,
that’s all.”
He explained that if there is an
event there now with alcohol, no
staff member stops in to check on
things.
“Maybe it’s not an insurance
issue, but one per cent of fault could
mean 100 per cent of payment.”
“If we’re not going to have an
agreement with them, then sell (the
property to them) for a dollar or
something. I’m not proposing any
change. The Lions do a good
job,” said McClinchey.
Clerk-administrator Kriss Snell
said a meeting would be a
good idea, adding that there
are other ownership issues
with the old lawn bowling and
tennis club property that should be
clarified as well.
“I don’t want property sitting out
there with no legal ownership,” said
Snell.

Mullin. The Libro directors had been watching the progress of the park,
and the youth park committee and volunteers were praised for their high
standards and dedication. Also, the committee acknowledges the work
of Jane Gardner in completing the application for funding.
