Don and Mary McLeod of Moosomin, Saskatchewan and Archie Lamont of Virden, Manitoba visited with their niece Donelda and Mike Cottrill, Shawn, Chris and Matt and their brother, Jim and Irene Lamont. While here they attended the Cottrill’s 25th wedding anniversary on Saturday evening, July 21 at the Wingham Golf and Curling Club. Dale and Colleen Lamont of London also attended the party. The evening was spent visiting and a video of their lives, which was made by the boys was shown. Rev. John Roberts was asked to say a few words. Lunch, including anniversary cake, was served. The cake had the same roses on it as the original cake 25 years ago. It was made and decorated by Mike’s mother; Elsie Cottrill of Tiverton. On Sunday, a potluck supper was enjoyed at the Cottrills. Attending were Amy and Ralph McCrea and Maureen Montgomery of Blyth. The community extends congratulations and best wishes to Mike and Donelda. Tom Irwin and Janet Chubb of Calgary were guests for a few days with Tom’s mother, Betty Irwin. On Saturday, July 28 a family birthday barbecue was held at Murray Irwin’s and Carol’s to celebrate Tom’s birthday. Best antique 2007 Glenn Bridge won the best antique honours with his 1928 Model A Sport Coupe at the car show at Brussels Homecoming. Cameron was surprised, saying he has only owned the car for a month; however, Cameron’s new toy, a 1969 Plymouth Road Runner was tops among the muscle class. (Shawn Loughlin photo) Best rod 2007 Terry Pattison and his 1978 GMC Diablo brought home the gold in the best rod category this year at the Brussels Homecoming car show. Becker’s truck was tops, despite tough competition from several other trucks in attendance this year at the Brussels Homecoming car show.
